jackson mast position

Postby dkazhdan » Wed Mar 27, 2019 1:54 am

question for those riding a shinn jackson board... how do u position your mast? I am a beginner and have mine moved almost all the way to the back. I have no problem riding it this way but i feel that i apply lots of back foot pressure. Wondering if foot switches will be a problem if i leave it like that? Would transitions be easier to learn with the mast moved forward?
thanks in advance for any info,

move the mast forward maybe 4 cm then try again, the pressure should be shared equally between your feet, so you feel well balanced and able to adjust the boards trim by slight weight movements, practice subtle upper body movements to move your board around as your flying around, tiny adjustments make a big difference,
also have a buddy tell you if your board is riding flat as your going along, lots of beginners who have their trim all wrong sail around with the nose way to high, not something you can see yourself.

My Shinn is tuned correctly with moving it all the way to the front. My other setup is the GW91 on a hypermiler on the 633 wing and I have to move it further back, but with the K wing and Jackson board it is all the way forward for the reasons you stated.

Position your mast so front wing is directly under your belly button. When riding at steady state, (not accelerating) weight should feel the same on both feet. If there is more on one, move mast is that direction till balanced again.

I seem to remember notes that came with... you start right at the back and then moved forward as you progress
