I dont think we are haters in any way, and might be very wrong as said...
Yes, it seems like a very different sport as some point out, so could be right, makes no sense to discuss in a kiteforum, although foilsurfing and SUPfoiling and windfoiling are also shared here now and then as some do it all.

I think you have to look at perspective. If I were a SUP person who was watching all this foil evolution from the sidelines and then someone comes out with a wing that could get me foiling, but I don't even have to buy the foil, I can just tip toe my way in with the wing first...… I'd be all in. As pointed out, there are many more of them than us.
From our perspective of discussing flying foot switches, toeside tacks, insane upwind angles and speeds, tiny little pocket boards, and kite sized we used to only pull out in 30 knots. Well its all just such a massive step down in performance.
I think the nay saying is not only expected, its justified.
I'm stoked some of you are open minded souls who see fun in it, but this is a kite forum.
Kiting is also probably the kookiest scene out there, so it's a rare moment we get to feel superior and actually mention it!

Do those who want to stop discussion of hand held wings here live in places where kiting itself is ridiculed, restricted or banned.
??
Do we need to end the cycle of abuse , so we can share the stoke bros?

I am very interested in the wing surfer. I'm not rushing out to buy one yet, but I am keen to see if it lives up the the hype.
I see a few applications for it. At the moment there are weather conditions that are not quite right for kite foiling or SUP surfing or prone surfing, or you have to carry gear for all those things. Gusty offshore. Heavy rain (where I don't want to deal with a wet 12m kite). Lighter winds that threaten to drop out and leave me swimming in with a huge kite and tiny board.
My board rack has SUP surfboard, prone surfboard, kite surfboard, TT and a couple of foilboards. On a road trip I carry 3-5 boards and 3-4 kites. There are still times when conditions make any of those a bit of a compromise.
A wing surfer could fill those gaps. Gusty offshore days could be fun. On a road trip I could get away with a single crossover SUP surf foil board and foil and a wing surfer.

I have no problem with people discussing a wing surfer on a kite forum, but proponents shouldn’t be surprised when the discussion isn’t all supportive. People on a kite forum fly kites. Especially for a certain brand of kite foiling, that’s at least half the fun. I love 16kn days because I can break out my 5m and zip it around. I love 18kn days because I can break out my 4m and fly it like a stunt kite. Take the kite out of the equation, and I’d rather there be no wind at all so at least the waves will be clean for surfing.

Spot on. Doesn't SUP stand for stand up paddle? Maybe it should now be called SUPWPWW (stand up paddle without paddle with a wing/ impossible to pronounce)

Maybe for those who bought their sup at Costco and are into doing yoga on it. For surfers a sup is a means to an end...catching the most waves possible and riding them as long as possible. It sacrifices some quality for much greater quantity, which is a good trade for me.
Sup foil extends it....catching and riding near nothing waves and getting insanely long rides.
Add another tool that gets me more More MORE and I'm stoked. A foil, a wing, a jet ski, a chair lift, a wave pool. Whatever works. Kiting has been another tool to maximize wave riding. Still never enough.
