Could you build a .fit to .gpx conversion into your page?
Parameterize heading, time and distance buckets?
It would be really cool...

I think I will do at least some of this. Where do I get .fit files? Can you send me an example? I've never used them.

Nice. One of the few times a polar graph makes sense. Most of the time people use it because it looks good, but there is literally no relation between the dimensions.
Check out graphs describing kite quality and how to ride it..I think North is the worst at this, but other brands have done it too.

That is exactly what I've been looking for! Thanks!!!!
I used to use the GPS Action Replay program, but for some reason I've never been able to get it to work on my new computer.
If you're looking for other things to add, the only other thing GPS Action Replay had was the ability to plot two GPX files on one plot so you can compare different gear. I believe the second GPX just goes on as a dotted line
I added the ability to overlay a second track as a dotted line, and an "advanced settings" panel (that so far has one setting - the size of the "bucket" for which segments are counted as "the same direction".
Notably lacking is the ability to set wind direction differently for the two tracks, they currently use the same wind direction (I plan to fix this eventually).
The next other feature I think I'll add is the ability to set the minimum length of time for a segment to count (i.e, you must have held a heading for 5 seconds for it to be counted).

That's amazing! Thanks!
Same wind direction for two tracks isn't a problem for me because I use it for back to back comparisons

.fit is the current output of applewatch, newer garmin smartwatches etc. it contains extra data for athletic training and health - Heart rate, stride, foot or pedal cadence, maybe more. I don’t know how to post one from my phone.

I added the ability to adjust the secondary track’s wind direction relative to the first, and the ability to set the increment for each segment in the graph (from 1-6 degrees) and a minimum time-on-heading to count as a best speed (1-9 seconds).
Still no .fit support, I need to find some .fit files to test with.

Interesting, thanks.
The only way I can get files off my Garmin 60csx to my old MacBook is to import them into Google Earth, export them as .kmz then convert back to .gpx
So if the wind was coming from the North directly, you should set 0?
Are you sure the output speed is in knots? It's telling me I'm cruising at 16 to 20 knots which a bunch of runs at over 30
I know my max speed that day was 33 kph...

Oh and at some lower levels of "min seconds on course" the graph becomes so "small" that I can't see the numbers on the speed axis...
EDIT: ok that seems to be errors in the file conversion. Apparently I broke the sound barrier on one tack for longer than 9 seconds
