30knots is frigging incredible!
the stance he adopts is so hard for me copy, but I am not letting that hold me back, with back foot out I have good control if not great control,
tried short lines of18mtr yesterday on 13mtr Ozone Chrono v3UL and hated the feel, the direct feel was there but that smooth feeling of linear power control was lost, tried to like it for over an hour but started to get frustrated at the feeling of less control so changed back to my standard 23mtr ozone foil bar, so much better but then sort of ran out of time to swap wings over to try for a set of speed runs, today should be good though.
30knts is silly fast, it was not that long ago 30knts was a record for windsurfer speed runs. :thumb:

I'd say going that fast on a wing that large shouldn't be a goal. Basically it has been proven that 683s can fly faster than freeriders usually care for and I'd be switching to my 590 for better speeds.

One thing though - I still hope Moses can deliver either a larger ~900-1000 sq.cm wing for 647 fuselage or smaller ~600-700 sq.cm wing for 710 fuselage so i can keep one fuselage

interesting test day yesterday between the 683s and the 633.
conditions were very light steady airs, so light our foil kites had to be encouraged to take off resorting to a front line hot launch a few times.
steve and myself swapped between the 13mtr and 15 mtr chrono V3 U'Lights and the 683s and 633 wings,

it was concluded that steve at 70kg light was fully lit and in control on the 15 with the 683s, but when we changed over and he was on the 13 then he had to come in to change the wing to the 633 to maintain lift and speed through the turns, starts were slightly compromised by using the 683s in mega light winds compared to using the 633 which was instantly up flying without a downloop.

the 633 with the 15mtr for me at 95kg was great until pushing for maximum speed on long runs, the lift from the wing and big 15mtr foil made it exciting and crashable, changing to the 683 took away the scary feeling and restored great speed without worry.

not the best day for maximum speed but the 633 topped 23knts-42kmph and the 683s 26knts-48kmph , which feels faster, but it always does.

we both agreed that at times having the two big front wings is a great combination,
and only having just one or the other will reduce maximum freeride fun.

warning!
this conclusion was made whilst enjoying a beer in the sun at the pub overlooking the beach where we sailed,

I had my second go on new 683s today on 90cm slingshot mast, I've been foiling 6 months and am learning to race, checked GPS and I clocked max speed of 43.9 kph (23.7 knots). I am 102kg and was riding a slingshot WF1 board with gybe straps and Hyperlink V1 12M in about 15 knots of wind. Interestingly I demo'd a 590 wing a month ago and I clocked max of 23 knots on that with a 13M R1V2 race kite in about same wind. I definitely prefer the 683 to the 590, I see both as training wheels for race wings, but the 683 is so fun for carving and learning tacks and gybes and playing in waves. Great wing. Also so cool how you can ventilate a wing tip or the whole foil and keep riding (sometimes).
RE techniques, I am using a race seat harness which is a huge help, stick your ass out and you can keep the board flatter and close to water to get deep foil angle, then I am going across the wind, locking in the speed and sheeting and keep board as still as possible and then bearing away from the wind a bit, gather speed and then a bit more. Will be interesting to see how fast the 683 can go with an overpowered R1 race kite. Btw I tested a 633 and yes it can go quite fast and its so awesome and carvy but doesn't feel like it wants to go fast.

Comparing to some of the other speeds quoted in this thread, that foilmount adapter or the SS mast don’t seem to be slowing you down much. Did you notice any humming or vibration or whatever at higher speed?
I haven’t tried out my foilmount adapter yet, mainly due to a lack of a Moses foil to bolt to it  (I’m working on this) but had thought of maybe modifying the adapter at some stage to make it smoother, more like the Stringy adapter. Might not be essential though.. That’d be good news :D

From memory I experienced some humming from the adapter when I tried it on the 633 but I didn't think of it yesterday and don't think I have had any humming at all with the stringy fuse and foilmount adapter combo so far. I was also thinking of putting the grinder and sandpaper on my foilmount adapter, but don't think it needs it tbh. My main gripe with foilmount adapter was that it moves the mast further away from front wing rather than closer, which seems to mostly be a problem with the 749 fuse, but with the stringy fuse the mast is so much closer to the front wing that I think either adapter works fine. For me the current rig is going to suit my purposes i.e. doing some free-ride and wave riding but also using it to learn tacks and gybes - and for riding on light wind, holey or sketchy days, or shallow water etc when I don't want to ride my race foil. For me this fits perfectly as the 633 was great for mucking around but not very good with a race kite, it just feels too slow and lifty - even tho it can be pushed to high speed and is a great foil. The 683 feels good with a race kite and is ok with cruising along at speeds a race kite likes to fly. Its also fun to push it fast, its such a nice locked in slippery ride, super high quality feel, even with adapter and SS mast. The 590 to me doesn't help me learn tacks/gybes, its about the same as trying them on hoverglide and about same top speed as 683. So I am very happy with what I have now.

How about the roll resistance of the 683s compared to the 633? Does the 683s give you more resistance (like 590/330) and help practicing footswitches at lower speeds? The 633 is so much fun but can feel a little wobbly in footswitches and at higher speeds.

The 683S feels defintely more stable at speed in yaw and in pitch. Flying footswitches are more comfortable at higher speed than with the 633. I have changed my stabilzer to the 450 which might also contribute to the stability due to its winglets. Hope this helps...

Stringy's adapter is amazing and very much appreciated piece but I'd blame on the 30" Slingshot mast I rode once and that one time felt a bit more rough compared to hours and hours of foiling on 91cm carbon mast before and after.
Just a very subtle difference but you can feel it.
