Losing the front hook

Thanks great advice. I like the idea of putting the hook forward. I can then use it to get away from the shore. After that I can take more time to get setup and use what I have learned here.
I also like the idea of 10 days in Cuba.

Yah most of my progression is on Vacation, as you know the Great Lakes are not always that great when it comes to learning conditions... BTW 6 weeks later I followed Cuba up with 9 days in LaVentana...

Any tips on losing the front hook and going strapless?
I tried tonight but it was a nonstarter. Disorganized onshore wind driven chop and incompetence. I had issues with keeping the board pressed against my feet as it drifted away at alternating angles. I was at a spot with limited room downwind (power lines) and deep water.
I figure flatter water and better spot would help of course but any other tips appreciated.

DO IT! I have less than a dozen successful heel to toe tacks, but successfully did the first foiling 360 I tried

Started foiling about 2-3 years ago strapless then went to straps because jumping a foil looked fun now back to strapless and being 100% honest after riding both for a while overall strapless is more fun and one just feels much more free... natural feeling when riding much more comfortable...Just leave the jumping and straps for the TT it's better and more safe that way

Sometimes I ride so long without falling off that my feet hurt and I need a break. Seems as good an excuse as any

I totally get why people would be into foil jumping, even with the weight of the gear hanging off your feet -- you can get a freaky amount of air for next to no wind

...wonder what it'd be like with a decent blow on...

Kinda surprised I don't remember seeing any foil big air video on here.
