Postby trod27 » Fri May 10, 2019 11:02 pm

So excited. Moses 91cm mast with new 710 fuse, 633, and new 450 rear stab.
I already had a 633 GW and sold it and wanted the new setup. Also already had 683s and kept it
Cant wait, and yes I have a foil problem :D

Nice :thumb:

Although the title of this thread made me think there had a been a pile up on the highway involving a BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, and a Volvo driven by a biblical character...

I guess you never heard of the Moses 113/657XB/899-22P/4 either?

For me the numbers are crystal clear , what I don't understand is the Moses bit. Moses never walked on water it was the other guy called Jesus.

Preliminary as the winds have not been co operating. Been holey gusty. But I rode 1.5 2 days in a row
Background. Was very competent with GW 91/633/749/483 on DC 3'6" strapless. I loved them, but had opportunity to sell before leaving SPI and made out good.

I wanted 450 because the 483 chipped so easy on the ends and I repaired twice already. I also wanted shorter fuse since my old set up was all the way back in track (but felt great). I ordered the micro DC and thought I needed new fuse.
Day one felt squirrely but was overpowered in gusty winds. I had the base plate about 1.5" from back thinking that would be good spot. Felt like a lot of front foot pressure in a farther forward position then before. Adjusted back 1" (.5" from back) helped. Now I have taken all the way back and not tested. Hope to ride tomorrow.

Concerns - why am I moving mast back when 710 was supposed to solve this? but are there other factors? Shorter fuse? or is it 450?
I am happy so far but I hope I can dial in. Feels weird, but it is a different set up. The 450 is turned up on ends which I hear makes for a looser ride? and the fuse being shorter could be less stability from front to back? I could shim 450 but want to do this in steps

I have the 683s which I have never used and I bet it would be perfect on it. But I have never ridden it so not sure how to compare it. I also really wanted to work on foot switches first on 633 ( I am getting them now about 70%).

Sorry for ramble but you guys sometimes help with technical issues

On the 749 you had mast all the way back but 710 has mast only 13mm forward (0.5”), so I’d say 1.5” move you made initially was too aggressive.
Also the stabilizer sits closer to the mast so it will also eat away from those 13mm - basically consider both wing and stabilizer being moved closer to the mast.

The 683s will make you consider 633 obsolete for kiting. They have lowend beyond what I could detect and both don’t stall at extreme low speeds. But 683s flies faster and feels faster being thinner wing.
After riding 683s for two weeks I started thinking that 633/790/873 are rather truly surfing wings. They’d work with a kite but feel slow, especially in an open water where you can ride further out without need to turn back
