Cabrinha da 2018 vs 2019 for beginners

Postby Gil 00 » Wed May 29, 2019 11:00 am

Hi
There is a big difference in the cabrina da in year 2018 /2019?

How this as a first foil board for beginners
I'm looking for a set that is good for start and continue with it for a year or tow

Do u recommend it as a frist set? Or this something better in cabrina line

:bye:
And one more question - how is it for a surfboard without the foil wing

*I'm looking for cabrina speciali because I can buy it with a big discount

Tnx ! :thumb:

I have a 2017 da board.
I combined it with a "Slingshot - Hover Glide NF2" because the shop had it available with a shorter learner mast option for an ok price.

Can't really comment on the foiling since I used a different foil but I did try out the surfboard on a lake a few times.
Disclaimer: I have no other directional board experience.

This is my limited experience, used it about 3 short sessions without the foil and about 8 times with the foil.
Rode the board on flat water:
* To me the board feels very similar to a large single direction twintip.
You can put in a bit more front foot pressure if you want but its not super different from a twintip.
* I still have to learn transitions and I am guessing that is a bit harder on this board compared to a real surf board.
This is because you will sink the board when you have no speed. (the board has no volume/buoyancy to speak of).

Other things:
* If you remove the foil from the board you have 4 gaping holes in the board which will spray up water.
It comes with some plastics to close them up but I found them to be a hassle and just ignored the spray.
* I am to lazy to remove the surf fins when putting on the foil so that looks a bit weird when foiling :D

As a foiling experience, it's fine. Has a definite top speed that you'll never exceed no matter how much kite you use, but it's ok for a beginner. When you decide how you want to foil (speed or wave) you'll be ready for a new foil anyway.

Surf wax over the holes apparently does the job.

Is there difference between the 2018/2019?
How is the new x-bread ?

Google image search -- looks like the 2018 and '19 Double Agent boards are the same except for graphics, but different to the 2017 and older that I've used, but only for foiling. Be fun to play with, the Foil Fish I had was a hoot without the foil...but heavy.

The 2018 DA foil is the last of that design. I guess for 2019, the Lift is the same starting point...?

If it were me, the 2018 would have to be significantly cheaper; the Lift looks like a much better design.
