I switched to a seat harness with rope spreader and it was immediately beneficial for me. No more riding up, easier on toe side with the rope spreader, really no negatives for me at this point. I didn’t notice any conditioning to get used to it either.
ditto on using a seat harness...with rope spreader.
i stared using primarily because i was hoping to show off my abs.....once i got some (i have been doing that arnold belly suck thing everyday)

i have no negatives.. .

I use a Dakine shorts harness (which is a seat harness) with the Ion rope spreader bar. Works well for foiling.

Having said this I should add that it isn't really that critical and if you are new to foiling don't worry about buying a new harness to start. As you progress and start riding toeside it is worth the change.

Thanks all. I bought a set of these this afternoon with the tracker bar that turns left and right to help with toeside angles. See how they go...

I use boardshort harness with rope spreader, which is like a very minimalist seat harness. I also have a ride engine and a dakine c1 waist harnesses, but waist harnesses always ride up on me and give me back pain. The only reason I would choose a waist harness over board short harness is for very heavy loads like boosting or racing. For regular free ride use, you just don’t need the extra support and board short harness is less constrictive then seat harness.

That bar may be better than my Dakine rope spreader. Smoother and more predictable. I find its not gliding smoothly. I'm using 4mm x30mm ss ring in it.
Looks well made.

Hey, Macster. Let us know how you like that tracker bar. Interesting concept.

It seems like the tracker bar would move the pivot point a couple of inches closer to the rider's body as compared to a stationary hook with pivoting chicken loop. But it doesn't move the pivot point laterally (from hip to hip) like a rope slider. So the rider will still feel the pull of the kite from the center of his body, but the pull will be slightly less powerful because the pivot has been moved from the tip of the hook to the base of the hook. I guess that will help some with toeside riding, but probably not as much as a rope slider.

Let us know! :thumb:

You got me there. I haven't tried a rope slider in 3 or 4 years so I cant reliably compare them. You would get even better angles on a rope slider though this thing is smooth, you dont even notice it pivoting. Did lots of loops and it felt like a normal harness hook. Toeside angles were impressive and a lot of the awkwardness gone. Big improvement on a standard waist harness.

I also liked the seat harness for holding down power and ripping along. Today it was really gusty 10-20 knots as I kited in a cross offshore wind (desperate to give these boardies a go!). I was on an 8m Soul with the moses 683s. I felt a lot more confident edging hard and pushing the foil to some solid speeds. GPS was averaging 25 kph up to around 32 kph.
