If you had to re-buy all your kites tomorrow, what would you get?

Here’s the rules for this challenge:

Assume all of your kites got stolen, and your insurance will buy you any 3 new kites you want.

These 3 kites will be the only kites you own for a full year.

Obviously, since this is in the hydrofoil forum, I expect the main use for these will be foiling, but feel free to mention any other disciplines you will use them for.

If you work for, are sponsored by, sell, or are otherwise financially associated with the kites you choose, please mention that.

Ok, for me:
I’m primarily doing freeride/wave foiling. My second use is freerace style, with long distances and big upwind/downwind angles, but I’m not actually that fast. Finally, I would like to be able to ride a surfboard in the waves occasionally. My home spot tends to be quite windy, with most days going over 20 knots.

My kite quiver would probably be 5/7/10 with the biggest kite a foil kite. I currently have a Soul in that size but could also consider a Hyperlink, Chrono, or Halo in that size. If I got a Hyperlink I guess I’d need a 9 or 11.

For the smaller sizes I’d probably get wave kites or single-strut kites that work well in the waves. I’m on F-One Bandits now, but would also look at the Breeze, and the Ozone Reo and Alpha. The Alpha has limited size availability, though.

The main problem with this quiver is there’s no good kite for a surfboard on days under about 20 knots, but I think I can live with that since I mostly foil anyway.

What would you get?

I'd get what I have: Hyperlink 7-9-13. ( Ordered 13 , don't have it yet).

Today was 18-22 knots in waves on the HF. Went out on the Hyperlink 7. Waves were pretty big for our spot, shoulder/head high.

Came in after an hour and one of the 2 guys out on Surfboards and 7-8 m Lei kites said " that kite looks like if flys really good". 99% of kiters around here have never seen foil kites, and definitely not in waves.
Hyperlink drifts way better than thier wave kites.

I’d probably get clouds again, 4.8, 6.2 and 10.4.
90% of my riding is in 8-20 knots, foil or directional.

hmm..

FS soul..in 6m
workhouse for everyday "normal" riding..

CA wave.. 4.5 (or smaller)
for higher winds/wave riding..something relaunchable that i can zip around to pull when needed...but "turns off" well.

a lightwind kite..
ideal is lightweight...and relaunchable.
i have my contenders..but this is still being determined.

Cab drifters, foiling mainly but also surfboard and twin tip, 5 thru 11m in one meter increments. I share with my wife so we are both on the water at the same time. I love these kites especially for foiling, I would recommend them to anyone. 👍👍👍

But I have 5 kites and don't want to limit myself to a measly 3.

But if i did it would be 8-6-4

I also have 12-10.

12 chrono
10 edge
8 ensure
6 reo
4 uno
I could to with a 2.5 uno for 30+ days.

I would, @78 kg having different wings and boards, either get

7 m2 Takoon Furia.
9 m2 Takoon Furia.
12 m2 Storm Strutless, but not made anymore, so probably an Ozone Alpha 12 m2.

Would cover foiling from 6 knots up to 15 knots, and then using waveboards when over 15 knots, up to 22-23 knots.

or if I wanted to aim more for surfboards having sweetspot kites -

6 m2 Takoon Furia.
8 m2 Takoon Furia.
10 m2 onestrut Storm V10 Litewind.

Would cover 7 to 17 knots foiling, and again using waveboards when 18 knots and more, up to 25-26 knots.

In either constellation I would miss out on the low end 5-6 knots, and the high end +18 knots (or over 25 knots waveboard)
But would definetely prefer this, instead of having too big gaps, if I could only choose 3 kites.

8) Peter

Since this is in the Hydrofoil forum if I was limited to rebuying kites for foiling only I would get:

3m Peak 4
4m Peak 4
5m Peak 4
8m Peak 4

In reality I ride my surfboard more than my hydrofoil so I'd get:

5/7/9/12/17m in which ever 1 strut kite I could get the best deal on
5m Peak 4
