It can be made much lighter and much stronger, without having a center hole.

One of my bars is the same way (and using 0,6 / 0,83 mm lines for lower drag), as I hate the idea of ruining a perfect carbon rod by making a hole in the center:

I had a big bulky bar same principle 18-19 years ago when riding twintips, didnt feel right back then.
But things change, and now I like it when in the slim optimized constellation :thumb:

Peter, I like the look of your bar......but is there no flag-out line?

No, I dont use that in winds below 6 knots...

Actually most often I dont have a flag out line when hydrofoiling in light winds even with smaller kites, as I have never had to use it in the 20 years of kitesurfing, and if needed one day on a hydrofoil, I would rather try to ditch the kite in the water and release, as we dont have crowds here, not on the water, nor on the beach (IF any beach at all).

Can not recommend this of course, but thats what I do often...

Always use flag out in higher winds and when on non foil boards :thumb:

If you use an SS eyebolt (as shown in the 1st post) you only have to make a small diameter hole (6 or 8mm) in one side of the bar.
An advantage is for one handed kiting, the eyebolt can go between 1st & 2nd fingers and prevent finger abrasion from the center lines.
Also if the eye bolt is screwed into a tapped hole in a cylindrical block (nylon) inside the bar:
a) the block provides some reinforcement for the center of the tube.
b) the eye bolt can be made to swivel, further reducing friction when sheeting a cranked bar.

A disadvantage is it’s another thing to catch a line on if you end up in a mess with slack lines.

Like Peter, I used to use this a while back on a TT (mainly as a way to re-use a bar with a worn center hole).
I now think I may revisit this for a light weight foiling bar. Thanks for the re-inspiration:-)

Does anyone sell just the carbon bar with a swivel eyelet and small bar ends?
