Cabrinha Hi:Rise

Cabrinha HI:RISE foils seem to be clean and modular. Would anyone knowledgeable answer few questions, please.

- are masts available in 40/60/(65?)/85 cm only?
- what are area numbers of Varial (1489 and 1329?), Carve (1165?), Lift and Speed wings in sq.cm?
- are different fuselages (750mm and 650mm) needed to mount Varial/Carve and Lift/Speed wings?
- is pedestal mount 140x90 or 165x90?
- is mast profile and/or hole spacing compatible with any other (other manufacturers') masts?

Hi there,

I think I can help. Masts are now 40/65/85 for the hi rise system. They have been stiffened up starting with the recently launched Hi Rise Varial and Carve foil kits. Previously, masts were 40/60/85. All masts are fit compatible from 2017 forward, but the 2020 masts are stiffer. Speed and Lift were launched in the 2019 product collection. The 2020 Lift will be reworked to fit on the new fuselage that is currently shipping with the Varial/Carve, as is the Speed. We had to change the fuselage to accomodate stiffness at the front connection as well as adding a third bolt. The pedestal mount has two sets of holes: 1/ regular countersunk holes to bolt into a track, and 2/ threaded holes designed to work with our through-bolted Double Agent board (bolting from the top of the board). The Track countersunk spacing is 90 x 110, while the Double Agent threaded is 90 x 140. I have no idea if the mast is compatible with another manufacturer, but the platform was shared with the now defunct CR:X.

Dims for Varial and Carve:
Varial Small:
Chord - 226mm
Projected area
- 116,508.2 mm2
Wingspan - 685.4mm
AR - 4.0
Volume - 1,621,983 mm3

Varial Medium:
Chord - 228mm
Projected area
- 132,988.2 mm2
Wingspan - 782.5mm
AR - 4.6
Volume - 1,718,735 mm3

Varial Large:
Chord - 230mm
Projected area
- 148,955.8 mm2
Wingspan - 880mm
AR - 5.2
Volume - 1,888,129 mm3

Carve:
Chord - 226mm
Projected area
- 116,508.2 mm2
Wingspan - 685.4mm
AR - 4.0
Volume - 2,024,170 mm3

Thank you!

Single fuselage makes great sense from R&D/manufacturing/warehouse/stocking/cost and user perspectives. Bravo on that call!

Do you have square area numbers for Lift and Speed by any chance?

So awkward and hard to understand why surface area is expressed as square mm. Just move decimal 2 places to the left to get square cm. So the Varial large is 1489 cm2.

They must have copied/pasted from the CAD software. I doubt they could measure it that precisely after making a handmade prototype. Kind of confusing and whoever reviews product material should have caught that, but our industry despite churning millions is still somewhat amateurish.

Still, I couldn’t find area of Lift and Speed wings

In case you are considering the Speed wing, Neilpryde CR:X mast is 95cm long.

So no one from Cabrinha can give us the cm of the lift and speed then. When is the reworked wings due for release?

Hi

A bit confusing not to have the same year of all models.

So, the 2019 lLift and Speed are a dead end? That’s probably why you can find them on sale. I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the saving.

Daniel
