Dakine Cobra Half-hook footstrap

Postby dave1986 » Thu Jun 27, 2019 3:31 pm

Has anyone had experience using the Dakine Cobra half-hook footstraps?

Would you reccomend them? And if so for rear foot only, or both front and rear?

Also, do they need 1 bolt hole or 2?

Thanks
Dave

My friend recently bought a pair of these - he has them mounted front and rear. So far he is very happy with them for both jumping and general free-riding. Not sure about the bolts sorry. Another friend bought the Slingshot version last year and one snapped on his first session using them. The Dakines were also cheaper than the SS so I think they are worth trying.

I've had the similar hooks from NSI in the Gorge. Friends have these Dakine hooks. Both are good. If your ultimate goal is to ride strapless I would only place the front hook onto your board, and skip the back hook. It's soul purpose is the help in waterstarts.
If your goal is boosting & straps the put both the front and back on.
It's a good product and these don't break like earlier mods of foothooks.
Yes, these call for two screws. Most but not all boards have properly spaced inserts

The holes on the bottom that are provided work if you use one front and rear, if you want to place two at the front angled you need to burn a hole with a soldering iron.

Other than that they are solidly made.

For those who are interested, I bought one of these yesterday which arrived today.

The hook is made from a thick plastic and is quite stiff. It has a thicker than normal padding under the hook so should be plenty soft enough for the tops of your feet in contact with the underside of the hook.

The hook has 3x circular bolt holes and 2x long "arc-shape" holes (see photo). I think the arc holes will allow it to be mounted at an angle for the front foot. However additional holes will need to be made in the neoprene surround to accommodate the arc-shape holes.
