Moses silente

Postby naishdude » Mon Jul 01, 2019 7:34 pm

Hi Guys,
I am offered a Moses Silente with Moses board with a racy Freeride wing and a regular wing.
The combination is from 2015 , in good shape ( all carbon)
I know the new moses or other wings cannot be installed aymore on this "old" setup.

Would you still buy this set if the price is right ( asking 750€ I think 600 would be fair?), I have no intentions in racing, it will be lighter wind freeride, long distance cruising, maybe playing in smaller waves.
your opinion is appreciated
cheers

A few months ago I paid ~£430 for a Moses Silente mast FR425 and HP560 wings and stabilisers from eBay. They were in very good condition. Presumably the market value at the time!

I assume you know the Silente has a fixed fuselage so more awkward for transportation but may be better from the engineering point of view!

This is without any board.

I won't invest in it. Unstable and you get sore legs if you want to do longer distances on it.

It will take longer to learn on these old foils and in the end you might enjoy foiling less. I bet that it is even easier to learn on a Comet or other comparable race foil than a Silente.

Just grab a decent modern design freeride foil and forget about those early draggy and instable desings (same with the early Liquid Force/Naish and Cabrinha or even Carafino...)

Just get the Moses 633 with fluente mast. Or get an alu mast with a converter for the Moses fuselage.

Could anybody who has ridden the Silente/FR425 (low aspect spade type wing) or similar have a stab at quantifying how much more difficult it would be to learn on the Silente set up as compared to the Fluente/633.

Is the difference night and day or just a few extra sessions?

I learned on the Silente with the faster wing, then moved on to more modern moses stuff. I had to ride the Silente again while waiting for a warranty replacement and found that it was fine to cruise but load it up at all and major instability. Save your money and get into the newer compatible moses line.

Any ideas what makes the Silente design less stable? Thinking about possible modifications for my lemon!

Pitch, roll or yaw instability?

Forget above just researched other threads and have answered my own question! I will hopefully get some lemonade out of it!
