Cannot understand why people still use and trust this outdated wichard system which created and will create a lot of accidential releases. Accidential release could be dangerous if everything is going wrong. So you need to take that seriously.

IMO the best release system/chicken loop on the market is the SKClickClick:

I know the designer and it took him 3 years to think it out and get it to the market. It's simplicity and features are at the top of the game.

Rainer should cooperate with him and ditch the outdated wichard.

Have seen the Pintxo bar and it's a piece of art. Will get one but without wichard.

And now SK Shapes have a very decent contender!

Come on Rainer, you've got more options

Not much activity in this thread. A video which was posted in the German forum on light wind relaunch.

With 2 unexpected releases by wichard snap shakle on my last deep water foil trip I've almost gave up on this shakle but after last mod with the addition secure I will give it a last try..
I have added a stretch rope that increase needed release force up to ~2-3kg (need to examin) with still easy usage while snaping.. check the pics below:

Did this fix improve your wichard reliability?

I wonder If the cause for unexpected releases only lay in differences in use, or if there is a tolerance factor to the polished latch tab and the spring. As we are not using it as intended by wichard with a Spinnaker/gennaker setup on a boat but rather in a tight spot where body, harness, board and other stuff are present at times, small differences in tolerance could very well be the cause for success or fail.

That's exactly the concept of Infexion - 1 minimalistic QR attached to the harness for all your bars.

But Nix,

Here is a catch:

Whicha is and it will be available in every corner on the Planet ;)

It will outlive ALL releases ever made.

And on releases topic, which grand brand had a major flaw?

None of our local riders are using any of above. But many are using W. Me too.

My FS release opened many times. No one is pulling it from the market.

Any plastic on any bar will not last as long as W. Proven over the years.

But sure, if can get one from above cheap, will give it a go.

Looks great.

Thanks for posting. It this ALU?

Re Witcha, it is not that big deal for HF. We do not even use leash any more since riding in closed inlet. So, horses for courses...
