Yea its true north / duotone bar doesnt float f.e. because ironhearth is soo heavy in meantime. But its definately important for bar to float. Try completely release kite in waves
/only solution sometimes/ on sharp reef - that catch sinking bar... I can think of more situations where float is necessary.
If other brands are stupid enough to not calculate new floaters properly - thats just they stupidity /and picture of our sport/

But i understand your position and design decision where you made very elegant back line trim - at the cost of bar float. Its fair compromise - but maybe there should be optional floaters - for use in conditions where it can be problem without. Also people should know about

Groove bar floats. But no option for the Kauper-XT clever trim system FYI. If the bar is light it should be easy for a user to add floaters if they want.

I love the simplicity of the bar. As Jake says, not sure how to cleanly add floats with the trim system but that's a compromise I'm ok with. Every bar out there today is a compromise. I now have my name on the backorder-list to get one.

does the bar float?
What do you think was the result? None of them floats! They sink like a stone. I was super surprised, because I would have bet with those big floaters they should float easily. The opposite happened.
Cabrinha Overdrive Trim Cleat floats... barely. In cold tap water in the bath. Photos and video on request. I did make sure there is no air left in the main PU tubing and the CL as well.

@Rainer, my only concern - why one pump on so thin struts?!
Would you prefer to have a separate valve on each strut? Me definitely not. I like it easy and quick. Beside that it´s always super difficult to pump such thin struts hard enough with a big pump.
Yes, even if not so thin struts. The aiframe is so much more stable with LE and struts inflated accordingly to diameter. An ancient valve with stopper ball makes pumping hard easy. But I would agree, selling such a kite might not be that easy.

The Maverick kite has no plastic clips to close the one pump system.
Congratulations for this! Many clips dont work properly anyway.

i do know that skshapes carbon bar floats... and i'm about 90% percent sure enata's carbon racebar does too...
..which are probably the two other options for folks interested lightweight high quaity carbon bars for foiling.

the bar is very attractive regardless(especially at your price point)..and i'm not certain a floating bar is actually a necessity for me either.

Yea but they are sealed carbon tube /thats why they float/ kauper needs to be open at the ends for trim to work. If you are riding waves with possibility of full kite release bar should float. If you are packing kite in water - bar should float. Otherwise it probably dont matter. Anyway - this bar is very light and floaters could be very small and unobtrusive if somebody insist on float. I made about 10 carbon bars myself - and KUDOS for mr. Kauper. This is clearly best production bar "avaliable" now. /for non unhook riding/

Would a wrap of cork bar tape as grip be enough to make it neutrally buoyant? Repaired an old bar with some once which seemed to work.

I'm thinking of the snowboard style hydrofoils where a foam deck pad is sometimes the difference between floating just above the water and just below the water

99% it would. But once you go bare carbon its hard way go back. Soft grip concept on kite bar was imo wrong concept from beginning. Soft grip work on situation where you doesnt move your hand like bicycle hadlebar. As soon as you move your hand like paddle handle it doesnt work. You can move your position bar from center to side gradualy in turn with bare carbon. With EVA you rather move your hand and turn. Also in power sports they dont use soft grip either /weight lifting, bar for pull ups/ so even for unhooking it doesnt make much sense.

To me the float of the bar is not important so I do not spend any R&D in floaters.

I definitely prefer a clean and simple design without any grip on the bar.

For the moment I do not see any need to change the system, but if somebody has a nice proposal at floaters I will check it out.

Thanks

My friend Marcel only had some 30 minutes last weekend to test the lightwind performance of the 7m Maverick at his local lake between Holland and Belgium. Our friend Czarek has filmed him with his mobile phone so the quality is not perfect. Anyway I am happy that these guys have sent me the small videos.

First videos shows the lightwind performance of the 7m Maverick.
Second video was made in the "highwind-period  " within these 30 min. There you can see the agility of the Maverick kite.
