thanks for the recommendations everyone. I wonder why all the local guys have landed on apollo's for foiling then? seems a bit odd to me... I guess it looks like a soul, but i'm sure it performs very differently.
Local dealer who sells them?

I have kited on your little lakes. I noticed the local dealer (a nice guy) using an Apollo for foiling. He did seem to be into boosting, for which the Apollo would make sense as a high aspect foil kite substitute - good for speed & boosting.

The high aspect nature of the Apollo makes it a good hydrofoil kite for hydrofoil. I use my 9m and 7m Apollos for hydrofoil a lot. In lighter wind, I use a FS Soul 10 m. But I the Apollo 14 is a good hydrofoil kite, too, although the 12 m is probably better in lighter wind due to weight. Hope this helps.

(edited to respond to hydrofoil question)
When would you use Apollo over Soul for Foiling or TT? with your Soul sizes you are covering all range of wind pretty much

yeah he does like those apollo's, specifically the 2017 one for some reason... that could explain it.

little bit of a side conversation, do most people just order equipment from their local dealer? or do most guys buy stuff online? I've done a little bit of both, and there's definitely merits to both methods.

I've a gong 12 strutless V2 for foiling... for the price very good kite...
restart is not very easy and the canopy sticks to the water... it's a different technique than a regular kite.
very stable in the air, and it flys in 6 knots. No tendency to hinderburg if the lines go slack.
I think I can foil on my 633 in 7-8 knots... My friend flys the same foil and his hyperlink has a few knots more lowwind... starts from 5 knots... (but 5 times the price from my gong :-))
