I'm also having this problem with my Dwarfcraft, and I'd like to replace the self tapping screws with stainless steel threaded inserts, since I like to take my hooks on and off for easier travel.
I found these inserts, https://www.ezlok.com but not sure which ones would be best for the existing holes in the board, any recs?

I insert them with a dab of epoxy as well, but you could probably do without it.
