Or even a magnesium mast could work to reduce the width

On some further reflection I'm puzzled by the choice of CF as preferred material. Certainly, CF is superior when we are concerned with strength per weight. For HF, however the strength per volume is the correct design criteria, and steel is stronger than CF by how much, factor of 3? With so much strength advantage, shrinking the mast profile in half is totally achievable. Then, thinner mast would offset the weight increase so we would still have reasonable foil weight (not 3x heavier compared to CF).

While at it, why not to have thinner wings, made of steel too? In addition to hydrodynamic benefits, steel wings would render sanding off scratches and polishing a thing in the past. Among foil manufacturers Levitaz already figured out that thinner steel fuselage has less surface area, and consequently, drag. But why stop there?

Or even Titanium. People don't even like floating foils.
