Fsurf Setup for a Foil Fish Board

Postby Michaelr123 » Sun Sep 22, 2019 2:33 pm

Hello again,

I've had a chance to try out the infinity 76cm with the kite and after a 4 hour session yesterday I think I had it down pretty well heading out in one direction, getting back was a little hairier, but do-able. I know everyone says this, but the amount of front foot pressure with my setup seemed a little ridiculous, to the point where I was walking out within a few inches of the tip of the board. I picked up on this foil position while was at the beach afterwards and saw that everyone had their masts racked all the way to the back of the board, and their foot straps were in front of the mast. I found with the foil fish that having my back foot parked half way over the back of the mast and my other foot fairly far forward was comfortable. Its a different wing, and has a different position on the mast (A vs B as slingshot calls it, I have my infinity wing rigged in the A position) compared to the fsurf where I found myself foregoing the straps and walking forward on the board to get balanced. So the real question is, am I just going to have to live at the front of this board until i finally pony up for a modern foil board with a mount system that is further back on the board?

76 is a pretty big wing for kiting, a lot of lift. You can use a tiny kite...4m smaller than twin tippers

Keep an eye out for an h2 wing....will probably feel better if you want to ride faster and more powered. Can get them pretty cheap used.

Well I really wanted a setup for cruising on low wind days, yesterday was pretty high winds, but that worked out because I needed to launch over and over again as I was learning. Maybe my next step is getting out in lower winds where I actually need my 12m with the foil.
