All,

My Groove Skate 130 also has developed a very annoying creaking noise from both sides of the rear foot straps. I can confirm it’s nothing to do with the foil mount as I can create the same noise on land by pushing with down in the area with my hand. When I push down it creaks and when I release the pressure it creaks again (same on both sides). The noise started to appear 7 months from new, but now 1 month on it’s got worse and think it needs sorting.

The question I have to the others, who have had the same experience with their Groove Skates, is have they contacted Groove or their retail outlet where they bought the board from? If so, is it covered under warranty? I will contact my shop and Groove soon, but it will be interesting to know what has already been conveyed from Groove.

Update on board creaking:

I confirm that I contacted the shop I bought the board off. They asked for video showing the noise, within 30 mins they had contacted Groove who agreed to send me a replacement board (they say they want to have happy customers). The feedback from Groove is that a few boards that were manufactured earlier this year may have this issue. Since, they have improved their quality control and slightly altered the construction process to avoid this issue occurring. Although, I was initially disappointed that I had experienced the creaking issue with the board, but am now very happy with the quick response from the shop (Gunnar in Fuerteventura) and Groove for acknowledging the issue/agreeing to send me a new board. This issue has not put me off buying Groove, in fact I now know they can be relied upon. I also know others, who jump more frequently and land harder than me, who don’t have any problems with their boards, so I guess it is really just a few boards that have the potential issue.

Hi

My board is from 05/2018. Regula size (120cm?)The first one was not sealed correctly. Second day of use it dropped water from a small hole. No damages or anyting. Groove changed the board for a new one. Last week the new one got cracked from the front end of the connection box to the side rail of the board. I didn't claimed warranty because fixing it was cheaper and faster than any discussion + sending the board.
Only question is, if the fix will solve it for the long run. We will see.
The shop that fixed it, told me, that, alsow the crack was not visible from the top (actually I didn't noticed flying the board. I noticed it during the strapless start when I hold the board at the rail with my hand) but it almost reached from the bottom up to the top layer below the pad. So it was completely broken. Anyway sailing it didn't broke in two parts, what I consider quite surprising.

I'm 108kg dry, so maybe I should have ordered the board re-inforced. I don't know.
As a general statement, I'm happy with the board and will buy again, if the fix is for the long run. If it takes a few days of sailing to break it again, then it will be the first and last groove board.

For sure the next board will be re-inforced and a little bit more weight will be accepted.
