Carbon is big wing? Needed?

Postby B19 ELS » Wed Oct 23, 2019 2:29 pm

I have just bought a Gong surf/kite board with a 65 mast and a medium wing.

Could I make an XXL pro wing shape DIY out of wood and fibreglass (heavier) but would work the same?

I really want a pump wing/ kite wing and the Gong XXL Pro is £350.

Any pictures of a fast pump wing like the signature foils ones would be great.

Are some brands interchangeable?

The difference between carbon and glass will be non noticable I reckon.

What will determine the performance envelope is your ability to shape the wing. If you haven't shaped wings to naca profiles before then expect a reduction in performance over a production unit that has been optimised through various design iterations and is shaped by cnc and or experienced professionals
