Traveling with Lift 170

Postby Jfactor » Sat Nov 02, 2019 6:45 am

Just recently picked up a Lift Classic 170 without considering the fact that it doesn't break down and may not fit in my mystic golf bag. The width of the wing will technically fit, though it pokes into the sides aggressively. I'm afraid that the wingtips are going to get damaged while traveling and I'm wondering how others are traveling with these larger wings that don't break down.

They are not good for traveling without putting them in a large suitcase surrounded by clothes etc. I've avoided such a foil for exactly this reason. One of my buddies arrived in maui with a cracked lift monofoil due to airline mishandling.

I bought a large hard sided suitcase and I pack my lift wing in the middle of everything. No issues.

Could you link me to the bag you’re using?

I just went to a Sears a few years back and grabbed the biggest luggage bag they had with "hard" sides. The luggage wasn't a hard shell per say on all sides, but if you pushed on the sides they wouldn't flex much and the top and bottom was just normal "soft" luggage material. I'm sure anywhere that sells luggage would have a similar option.

I guess it kind of has a material like this... https://www.costco.ca/atlantic-medallio ... 78905.html
