Traveling with Kanaha Mucho Macho 37"

Postby phlow » Wed Nov 13, 2019 6:04 pm

A couple of my local bros have the subject board and love them. I have ridden also and love it. I'm currently on original Groove Skate (which I think is 42"). I ride Moses 633 / 590

I travel a fair amount to Caribbean and other places and have been using the original nobile split foil board with the nobile foil. It's serviceable, but quite a downgrade from my normal Groove / Moses ride at home. I have the nobile check in bag, which max dimensions is 90cm x 20cm thick.

I would love to find way to travel with my moses carbon foil and a small pocket board, without paying any luggage fees. (I've travelled kiting all over the world with an NSI Deceiver golf bag, the nobile check in bag without ever paying a cent, it's kind of a badge of honor for me.)

Has anyone found a solution to travel with the Kanaha 37"? (I'm looking for some airline legal bag which fits the board safely). I think the 33" might be a little TOO small for my 100kg bones.

I've flown with mine in the Kanaha Shapes board bag and it was fine as regular checked baggage, no oversize fees or anything.

i am using the new mystic golf bag. It is amazing. I was in Mex and flew from the states. 3 kites, moses 633 adn 590 with 104 cm slingshot mast, bar, pump wetsuit and kanaha shapes board. bag looks like golf clubs and there were no questions either way. I do have silver status on united.

I'm using this: https://www.ospreyeurope.com/shop/eu_en ... r-120-2018

It was a bit small, couldn't fit my KS 37" in it at first, but I heated up the bottom section and stretched the plastic a bit and now the board fits perfectly. The bag is very durable, great for travel, but also a bit more expensive. Also, I haven't paid any extra for oversized baggage so far.

jur0 -

Thanks for the tip. From the Osprey site, dimensions are listed as 38" x 17 x 15 so it seems like it should work. When you say "heat it up" do you mean just hitting it with a blow dryer or something to enable you to stretch the PU inner liner?

I think the dimensions from the site are not the dimensions of the inner space, it's the size of the whole bag. I used the blow dryer and stretched the bottom section 1-2 cm as shown in the pic. The board now fits in well, but still it takes some effort to put it into the bag.

i'm got a few more cherry pies to go before i'm pushing 100 kg..

but the 33 macho pro fits in that osprey bag without problem.
absolutely no room for error on starts and... it doesnt really run downwind if you fall off it.
(but paired with a quiver of peak4s and a surf foil is awesome for travel)
