Foil board deck pads

The groove skate pads look good.

I had the rspro hexatraction out yesterday.

At first I thought it was a tad too slippery but I adjusted pretty quickly. More like sandpaper or deck texture grip. A spray on texture might be just as good.

I’m a foot slider so they work pretty well for foiling for me.

They are little individual plastic hex sheets with adhesive in the back and a texture in the front. I got the black ones but they also come in clear.

Yiou use water when you apply but they aren’t like those stickers you got with models where you can slide them around when you apply. Once you stick it on, it is staying put.

I did get a couple of bubbles under the hex but they appear to have gone away as everything dried out.

I’ll see how they last.

Well I had an issue with the pad too thick for the screw and tried some different foils and struggled and stripped out the screw hole and so I thought I would do something different.

Rspro hextraction and a can of black primer.

I use the same Hexatraction pads, especially if you got a beautiful airbrush, you can see it all through these pads

At first I thought they were too slippery for bare feet, but no, and have got a full extra spare set of "Hexagons" when they wear (get slippery), but havent needed to change even one single pad, even when riding this board more than every other boards, for 2½ year.
Amazed by this, so I think yours will last long too Purdyd, some bubbles does not matter at all, not one single of mine has "opened" at the edges or anywhere.

They can be removed with water, peeled off, that is another advantage - eventhough I havent needed it yet.

Normal classic pads are heavier, and soak up water so even heavier.

I bought some different pads from SpaceStickLab - they have specialized in making lighter thinner non water absorbing pads, but a bit thicker than the hexatraction, but more grippy it seems:

But havent tried them yet, as all my boards got pads that are not worn or need extra.

Hexatraction works well if you wax them up as well. The wax last for a whole season that way, stuck in the hexatraction.

Does it still attract sand? I guess I am tired of wax and sand. Makes sense for surfing. To wax them but sort of defeats the purpose of pads.

At first I was sceptical, but have found it to be a big advantage, that you got "reasonably" grip, but not too much, as the very purpose of a foil is to glide through everything without chop bouncing you, and when strapless (as it seems most foilers are) you will always stand without any forces in the "deck" directions, so you could almost stand on an icy surface sometimes, without problems. ha haa.

Of course not fully, so some grip is needed, but too much, and you can not slide your feet as easy, not good

Just an update, cork.

I kept wearing out the RS pro hexatraction plastic so I have gone to cork.

It appears it will last longer has the right grip and looks ok

After deck pads that mark up too easily, I asked groove to make these for me, I do love the different custom look, and the grip on the board is good enough where there are no soft pads,
Grooves naked deck surface is not slippy, which has me thinking about my next order, jumping really is never that hard on the deck, but for now I am really happy with my own take on the need for foot pads.
Sort of race board look on a pure freeride board
