EU foilers: where's your favorite foil spot in the Med?

Postby tkaraszewski » Tue Dec 10, 2019 1:02 am

I know, there's a travel forum, but I don't want to find the place with the most kite schools or the flattest shallow water ponds, I want to go hydrofoiling!

Where are your favorite spots to go foiling on the Med? I need to be in Spain in mid-September, and I'm thinking of going a month early, so late summer: August/September. I only care about foiling, and would like a family-friendly spot. The Atlantic coast is not off-limits, though the warm water of the Med is a draw that time of year (but I do love Portugal).

Some of my favorite places I've foiled before are at out-of-the-way spots with less traffic and more character, rather than the biggest kite destinations. For instance, I thought Tarifa was a bit of a letdown, though I had some super fun sessions at lesser-known beaches in Sardegna.

I don't expect everyone to want to give away all their secret spots, but where are some good foil spots you wouldn't mind sharing? :)

Had a good time at Plage de Piemanson last summer.. river delta of the Rhône. Parking at the spot and campsite at 7km in Salin the Giraud.

Hey

I've seen a lot of foilers in Viganj, Croatia. Maybe it was Janus amongst them ;)

Anyways, Bol on island Brač is nice too. Ferry might be going there from Orebič, which is close to Viganj.

Why do you want flat water - you are experienced?

Or is it for the family to learn?

I specifically said I'm not looking for kite schools or flat water. I mentioned those because it's what you find when you google "Kite spots COUNTRY_NAME", and I'm looking for good foiling conditions instead, which aren't always the easiest places to find online.

Oops, sorry, indeed you did, dont know why I got that totally upside down and wrong, my mistake...

What about the North coast of Spain, Galicia?

It has the most wonderful local people, traditions, and history.

The landscape and many bays between cliffs sometimes, but wide sand beaches, or simply long sand beaches no cliffs, are amazing, been there to the worlds for windsurfing many years ago, really a "dream" area.

Just an almost "off the chart" idea - and the Celtic music is something you and family will find amazing eventhough at first it might seem odd.
