better than the very brittle north snappy mk1 thing you were looking at,
the gong is strong.
if its the 80 cm mast with a large wing or xl wing and 65cm back wing then its a good set up for starting off, and you can sell it on when you want to, all parts are available on line and mega cheap, quality is very good,
is it the best? no! but its great for the price.
better not to to go for the longer masts or smaller wings.
but a replacement mast or wing is very cheap if you need to buy one, so very little risk.
board is good for your first season learning and very easy to move on to another newbie, or even keep for a spare.

This wing is even worse than the north, as to thin for carbon/glass and so to flexible. Also very basic shape not even offset of profiles AoA at tips.
Have had it and also tried the north. The Gong surf M or for sure also M pro wings are good to start with for beginners. First ones you may find used. I think with board you actually will still have to spend minimum 500 € for a good used set, otherwise it is more likely to be even more crap as till now.
Good luck
And please don't open for every foil you find a new topic.

I've been riding Moses 633 for 2 years. After 1 year on small 550 and 590 wings.
Today I rode Gong M Pro with 40cm stab and 90cm mast 30 min after 30 min on Moses. The Gong is good foil to learn and progess on. Get a 140-130 cm board and foot hooks for learning.
It's a great set up. Only 2 things are negative.1. the foil will not float on side indefinitely like Moses does. 2. It whistles. Theses are small issues that are ok if you have foothooks in the beginning. The whistles can most likely be solved, but for beginners don't matter.
I've heard if you get 55cm stab it's like having training wheels, might consider that if u are beginning.
As is, Gong M Pro is actually a really good foil, compared to Moses 633, it seems slightly faster, better at maintaining speed into, in and out of turns, better stability at speed in all 3 axis, but still as agile or more as Moses 633 in all speeds and point of sail.. Slightly less prone to tip breaches.
I struggled to get started due to being spoiled by Moses floating on side. Plus, needs a bit more forward speed to lift, it's not much. Just a bit more aggressive in kite and you pop up. After 3-4 tries I figured it out.
Doing heel to toe side flying tacks were easier. I think due to speed being maintained better thru turn.
I would recommend the Gong M Pro with 40cm stab and 90 cm mast for dedicated beginners that will be good to grow on.
If you are more timid, the M Pro with 55cm stab and 80cm mast.
