First impression of Gong M Pro

Regarding the weight of the setup: I just got my M Pro wing with the 40cm surf stab and the 70cm carbon mast (which includes the fuselage and the plate mount in one piece), it all together weights 3363 grams. Everything fits together nicely, the workmanship is perfect and it all looks very sturdy.

What made you choose the 70cm? I'm debating the all carbon but ideally would like something in the 90cm.

There is currently only a choice between 70cm & 100cm in the carbon Gong.

To put weight in perspective: my LP foil which has a 100 cm mast & a 700 sq cm front wing weighs in at 2600 gms. The longer mast & smaller wing of the LP might more or less cancel out (I will check at some point) ,meaning that the LP foil is considerably lighter. However, it's possible that the Gong set up, with integrated mast & fuselage may be stiffer - in fact the mast itself may be more heavily built & stiffer - & I have a feeling that that makes more difference to performance than weight.

I wanted to try the 70cm, seems it may be better suited for local conditions where water along the shore is quite shallow with lots of sand banks, also want to use it for light winds when the sea is pretty flat anyway. Regarding stiffness -- the gong setup is really sturdy and stiff, when I put Alpine carbon side by side with Gong, Alpine looks almost fragile.

Thanks for the info, if you try to bend and also rotate the foil by turning the fuselage when the whole setup is attached to the board and upside down, how stiff the system is, please?

I do not have many other foils to compare to but definitely stiffer than my Alpine 90cm carbon mast setup; Gong's fuselage is fatter and the way wings are mounted on the fuselage allows for much less movement. I really can't imagine anything stiffer in this weight category.

I was enjoying classic M with the small kite stab , but lost the set and now wondering which Small stab : surf or kite will be better for this smaller surface front wing .

I'm using the gong pro m with 40 cm stab and 90 cm mast. That's gongs recommended setup for kiting. It works great.

I have a couple of friends who have had the gong gear for a long time and no issues with the masts or wings. Tough as.

I have had my gong 4 months. No bent mast. HTF do you bend a mast??.
Put board on side , on ground, jump onto mast?
Its the same aluminum mast ever other manufacturer has. Liquid Force aluminum mast is 20 mm wider than gong , but it has weird yaw stability.

Today my first ride on the freewave m with the new 4.6 catch board! The freewave foil is super stable and controlable what a difference with the f-one ic6 that I had before! And it feels very stiff and direct in comparison to the ic6. Only a big noise wissle somebody know how to solve this?

I had same problem. Top side of front wing at trailing edge, sand it down 1mm , 3-4mm in from te to edge. Wet sand with 180, then finish with 240 and then 400. Back wing sand bottom side 2-3 mm of te down about 0,5mm The trailing edges are symmetric and this is wrong. They have to be asymmetrical. Mine is totally silent now.
Use a sanding block. Google it, there's video showing how to do it.
