It does have some small impact at speed but its negligible. Holding any board in a heavy wind will prove that to you but against apparent wind given that we are pointed into it and the board is parallel to the flow, it can't be much on a small to mid sized board.

I've thought about this. But more in terms of wind resistance affecting ( effecting?) the feel and response during flying. You are more of a scientist than myself, me being an empirically oriented designer.
My thoughts are that at 35 km/hr, having a 40cm x 30cm piece of board in the wind forward of your front foot must effect agility. Yes it's not perpendicular. But think about a deep profile rim on a road bike and how it effects the handling in a wind.

Debatable how much but agreed that it is a variable.
Do you feel the way wind moves the board
as you are walking down the beach?

Some designers are making bulbous nosed big wave and
Tow in surfboards for the pro big wave tour.

Bulbous noses cut thru the wind.
Put your hand out the window of your car at 20 mph
Fly your hand like a wing and your hand goes up and down. Like a thin flat board.
Now make your hand a fist and there is no up or down redirection

We put bulbous rails on some of our foilboards for this very reason.
Helps to diffuse the variable of wind pushing the board around a little.
Just makes sense.

Combined with our grippy and cushy protective dermal layer of skin on our boards. Cushion and protection from dings.
Memory foam and skin on the rails. No glass on those rails.
Rib and head friendly.
We make them this way because it just makes sense.

We think the skin of boards will be evolving rapidly as so many new materials offer better riding experience and durability. Boards have been “glass hard” for 70 years— its not necessary that they are hard. And the fastest animals in the ocean are soft.

If anything it’s a wing upside down so it would fly towards water. However at speeds people ride it’s just a piece of board which can only reflect some wind puffs

Yes we do.

But that happens because of? ;)

People ride a piece of plywood and still better then many. We do not need the board at all. We need something to stand on tho.

No.
Taut is right. There is no lift from the board once foiling.

In fact there is downforce. Think about the angle of attack of the board when you are traveling crosswind, upwind, downwind.
Is it ever pitched so it could provide lift?
Quite the opposite. It is usually canted on an angle to counteract kite pull and that will give you a negative aoa relative to the wind.

With the massive windfoil race boards, they have to consider the lift of the board, so they have decided to go for control as the first priority and mostly avoid lift. There is some lift from the slight nose rocker though.
