Agreed. I'm with the 91 and the 101 Moses carbon. Aside from experimental fiddling on the beach with stiffness testing, I honestly could not tell you that I've ever felt a twist. 590... 633...and a Stingy wing. All excellent. Personally I appreciate the lighter weight during waterstarts, and aggressive carving snappy.

I read somewhere that the superior ride feel of a carbon frame bike, as opposed to an aluminum one, is a scientifically proven placebo effect.
They ran tests randomly giving riders aluminum and carbon bikes and apparently they (the riders) couldn't tell the difference.

Do you guys think that the foilers may be potentially dealing with the same phenomena?

Much cheaper to replace Alu parts when they quite often get trashed in waves.

Few more factors
- jumping with heavy setup is a nightmare
- being hit or bumping into a heavy set hurts much more

so weight seems to be the only factor then?
someone mentioned that alu masts hum and create more drag too, is it really noticeable?

Slingshot is pretty much the heaviest foil stuff on the market though or was rather, I haven't seen the aluminum stuff in the flesh since the new wings came out.

Somewhere I weighed my 19mm mast, but can't remember the details except that is heaps stiffer than carbon...

Found it: 3.08lbs (1.4kg) for the 75cm excl. plate. Bathroom scales though, FWIW.

For me at 73 yo I always consider weight and with my SS aluminum masts its not an issue with the very light weight Moses wings carrying to the water. It's a bonus sinking the wings which is still very slow.

Are you learning on this foil?

Learning. I've been foiling for a year on a Shinn P-Foil, got to a point where i can pull off most of my footswitches in the air.
I find that the p-foil starts feeling draggy so i am looking for an upgrade.

Another factor when considering an alu mast is that unless i am being wrong a moses 633/alu mast foil sinks rather than floats on its side? Which is a huge benefit in light wind as i see it.

im an improver just below your level. Foot switching 10% of the time board on water Just moved from 61 cm slingshot ali mast to moses 91 cm carbon and yes carbon mast floats the board on its side but ive found its making life easier as its making waterstart easier. Im learning strapless water starts. Cant tell any difference in ride quality so far at my level.
A bit more body dragging back to the board on its side but not much.
