Beautiful video! It would have been interesting to see an entire ride unedited to see just how long a single ride could be. I notice they're using long masts & not using very big wings.

Smooth. No mention of kitesurfing being surfing. He had one of the first kitesurfing pics in a Magazine ever - Surfer mag in 1998.

There are places you can ride like this for a km or more in huge swells that never quite break offshore. Water depth vs swell size.

That was a great video.
I've dabbled towing in some medium big waves with my foil and I'll add something they didn't touch on. Falling is not an option if you care about your equipment! I lost it in a 15 ish foot wave and my foil got tumbled. It's amazing but nothing actually broke. But the mast bent perfectly 90 degrees.
Thanks for sharing this video. Very cool.

Ha true he did not say that. but if he can tow himself in with a jetski, then we can tow ourselves in with a kite - it's all surfing!

Awesome. Those dudes have brass cahones.

And interesting the high aspectedness of their designs. Those foils are in my minds eye what big waves foils should look like. These big fat massive surface area things that are the current trends are really only for small waves.

Sure, and this proves what you saying for long time.

Other interesting thing is - they use nonstandard alu mast and fuses. And this prove what Gunnar says, that you need stiffness beyond current carbon setups for real wave riding.
In other word - lift carbon masts are not stiff enough for this.

They mention the custom fuse and mast with respect to wanted weight. The specifically mention heavy boards.

Obviously totally different set up. Those swell are orders of magnitude bigger than most and moving fast!

I miss heard that - sorry.
But heavy board is quite contra intuitive to me.
I will watch it again
