groove boards in northern Italy

Postby Foil » Wed Mar 11, 2020 3:44 pm

I was a little bit worried about placing an order with groove for a new board, as there facility is in the hot spot for covid19, one of the first regions to be placed in lockdown,
The last 3 boards I have ordered over the last 3 years have taken over 5 weeks to get to me from date of order,
so imagine my surprise when 6 days after placing my order, yesterday, an email came informing me my board was ready.
something has changed
have others held off ordering I wonder?

groove skate 120cm 2020 model, its different, shape, rocker line, stronger construction, new colours, no scratchy white rails anymore,
after using the demo one for near a week that Gunnar had on flag beach it made me put my other boards on kite bay, and order 2 of this new 120 model groove skate.

Very smart. Out of interest, what made you decide to go for the "Carbon" rather than the "Full Carbon"?

Is the 120cm 3cm thick like last years model?

yes still 3cm thick, after having 6 full days using the demo board in standard construction and weighing it (under 3kg) and finding out its made differently, the whole board is just so solid, you can hear the difference when you ping the surface all over, much different sound, a solid ping everywhere you tap.
also the dayglo green is just so pleasing on the eye (and you can see it from outer space says one american guy on the beach) :o
saving a few quid made a difference as well, especially as I bought two,
better fitting bag this year as well, with the bag handle on the right side for right handed people, and not as gaudy :D says me who has just bought a fluro green board and a fluro yellow one

I heard that Covid19 cannot withstand water speeds and wipeouts above 30knots. So you had better push the limits to keep yourself safe.

So does the new version's mast trac go far enough back to use a Moses 633 ?

slightly too far back, in my case, making it future proof, but it went back far enough on the old models, i have my mast 2 cm from the back of the track and still have foot strap adjustments than can be used fore or aft.
mind you don't forget there is a link between moses and groove in terms of friendships and moses riders

Shield your eyes, the bright dayglo yellow may damage eyes
Is this the brightest colour yet?
And as for the board bag, when I pulled it out of the box then my cat ran for its life, so shocking.
I like it more than my dayglo green one, wow!
It will raise a smile in this time of gloom perhaps
