But foiling appears to be much less stressful on the harness...Ive been riding a new harness for two years and it still looks new...

Sorry, Maybe its up to me but what is the use of this information? I have been using the same harness 2 times a week for 3 years and often even in 30 or 40kts +?

We like to talk about kiting and some of us aren't allowed outside or on the beach, so sometimes it's nice to just be able to discuss your interests even when it's maybe not the most important discussion. No need to reply if you're not interested in the topic.

Very true, they last WAY longer, even if you got a retired harness from TT or Waveboards, you can use it for foiling - I did that the last 3 years with a "retired" harness, and using a new one for waveboards, as they wont last that long here, and even shorter for TT

Waist harnesses though, but same observation, no wear when kitefoiling (and not racing that is...)

My harness is the same for my start of kiting 10 years ago ...!!!
And it was ... a second hand.
I bought a new one but do not use it, i prefer my old ... bump&jump of 2006...
For tt, snow kite, hydrofoil... just changed one strap 6 month ago, ready for next 10 years ....

I go through a waist harness every 1.5 years. It's my most replaced piece of equipment. Sometimes I'm lucky and the horse saddle guy can get a needle through to sew the straps back on. I'm a heavy TT rider usually riding overpowered.

My seat harness is fine but my winter wetsuit is developing holes where the leg straps run in the crotch. Cold water flush there is an experience... 🥶

On a related topic, I have had my harness fail on two different vacations where nobody could fix it. Now I always bring this handy tool called a sail makers awl. It is commonly available in sporting or sailing stores and it comes with sewing instructions that even I could follow.

Went through a phase of using the Dynabar all the time, then went back to a fixed hook for TT and D-bar for foil/surf but got sick of changing the spreader bars over.

So rather than use a seat harness for everything, I started using a fixed hook on the Dakine Fusion for TTing, and finally put the Mystic Star Hybrid to work with the D-bar for foiling.

Then one day, the leg straps had come undone and I hadn't noticed so I thought I'd fish out my Dakine Renegade from ... 2013? and see how that goes foiling with a D-bar. And skip the putting on leg straps like getting into a nappy, and the inevitable wedgies.

Now, thanks to a crap year for wind in Japan, I went TTing twice last year in total so the old, tattered and ratty Fusion is still hanging on and I'm finally getting my money's worth out of the Renegade

I wear boardshorts to avoid that (so far, so good) but try convincing anyone that's a good idea
