It's not going to replace jumping and wake style but for those that just want to ride waves and have spent years on a kite already, it's the next step. I find it safer than windsurfing in waves also, no boom to fall into and you're leashed to the board so no loosing that ether. No stress of relaunching the kite wing ether. I think in a few years the wing will feed the kite sport since people will be less afraid of the wind then and want to get big soft air on their boards.
Although I don't SUP myself I completely agree especially if you live in a place with waves. Safer than windsurfing, only if you are not using a wing without a boom (most have soft handles ).

There are only few wing foil topics, which fit fine into hydrofoil, since it’s the same board anyway.
So you might want to think about getting rid of that hardly viewed topic “airstyle” since the main forum covers it anyway. Oh wait, that’s your baby.........never mind...

There are no exclusives.
I never though I would use my foil to ride waves (with a kite)
I never imagined guys would jump and kiteloop with a surfboard.
We might see a lot more wingfoilers on flat water also just for the pleasure of learning something new (like we started foiling)
As for the safety, don't forget there is a HUGE foilwing under the board and if flips upside down very easilly. Boom on the Duotone is not a problem for the rider but can hit the board (when it flies on the leash it goes up and down VERY hard and can hit the board if also away on the leash)
Anyway it is a hotter topic then any topic on the "airstyle" section indeed which didn't see a post in 2 months.

I beg to differ. I have landed in the wing a few times when learning new tricks or being washed in waves. I have full impacted with my head, shoulders, back and other body parts on the strut. I would not like to have that with a solid boom. The first time I tried a Duotone wing, I slammed the clew end of the boom into my wrist when I caught the tip on the water. There is lots more risk of injury with a boom compared to a "soft" strut.

I can understand that booms on wings can be more intuitive, especially with a windsurfing background, but I also think the most important attribute in a wing should be the weight, especially in bigger sizes and light wind as it will determine how well the wing will do what it is supposed to do = not be there when don't need it.

toby, at my spot all the wing riders are/were kite foilers, surf board kite riders, twin tip riders, possibly another reason to have a seperate link to wing foiling?

No! No wingfoil forum.. all posts about wingthings or whatever should be banned, inclusive posters..
all possible action to prevent spreading this disease should be considered..
I, read my wive, don’t want to read anything about this, I’m afraid this disease might infect me as well..
