Here is what I was looking from from MAC Kite. It was in reference to the Ride Engine version of the H1 but it looks like it may have been designed to be be what I am looking for. It helps that Slingshot currently has it on Sale. May have to think hard on this one.

Player 2 has entered the game! That was tempting at half the price but interestingly enough the slightly larger H1 is geared more toward larger waves. Where as the H2 was geared more towards early starts in smaller waves. I took the plunge and just ordered a Time Code 68(H1). The price was right. Will report back once it gets here. Looking forward to some higher wind days with my Peak 4 3m once this wing arrives. This should round out my quiver nicely for now.

Update

My time code 68 arrived just in time for some good conditions last Friday. I am stoked. For the money I think it was exactly what I was looking for in a step down wing from my inf 76. I never felt out of control with this wing and it was a very easy transition. Conditions were side on with winds of 18 to 25 mph. Waves were a fun chest high. I started a little over powered on my 5m peak 4. It’s funny but this wing almost feels to have a top speed limit that is lower then the inf wing. Sort of felt like it would stop accelerating at a lower speed then the inf. That may just be a perception issue though because sometimes the feeling of speed is tied to that feeling of being on the edge of control.

Upwind seemed to be as good, although maybe slightly worse vs the bigger wing. It took only a little more speed to get on foil but nothing dramatic. On the waves it was really nice. Never felt like it was going to explode and yet remained fun to crank some nice carving turns on. It turns and carves better then the infinity but it was not dramatically different. I am sure there are better turning setups but this combo is going to work well for me. I think as soon as I am powered up or the waves are chest high or bigger I will want to be on the smaller tc68. I was even able to easily ride the outside wind swell with out to much pumping when headed straight downwind with the kite depowered.

Funny thing is I think this wing has helped to tame my 3m peak as well. When I switched down to it as the wind picked up I was really happy with how much more predicable the ride felt ba the inf. I think the power surge you get in these conditions was just less pronounced with the smaller wing.

So the short version is, if you primarily ride a large surf wing you will be much happier if you add a smaller wing to your quiver for the bigger days. A smaller kite alone is not enough.
