I'll run them all on the original kitefuselage with the original stab. The larger wings are modded to fit the fuselage.
Just out of interest, what is the mod? Often wondered what the difference between the two fuselages is?
The original kite fuselage is shorter and the the part in the front is also shorter.
You have to drill 2 new holes in the part of the wing that cover the fuselage.
Or you can cut a couple cm bit off on the connection part of the wing and drill one new hole in that part.

I don't know if it is strong enough for the largest wings but on Surf M/Lift it works for me. Everything on the Gongfoils is made really strong except maybe the long alumast on the largest surfwings.

It is very easy to change wings. Just 2 screws.

The 90 cm aluminum mast works great on the Pro M (Curve M) for kiting. Its ride is really good low end, fairly fast and is very agile. As a comparison it is more agile and faster than moses 633, same lowend.
The veloce is claimed to have 4 more knots speed at cruising, have more drive in carves. Some little loss at low end. We will see.

I can imagine the aluminum mast being too flexible for larger sizes.

Which Gong foil line would give the best low end with a wing?

I’m thinking that low drag would be key to building enough speed to take off. If so, the thin profile of the Veloce might make it the best.

What do you guys think?

I think the pro (now called Curve) line would still be the best compromise for winging. My XL pro already gets me up really quick (I’m 78 kg), has nice top end and just wants to carve. I’ve seen video of guys winging with the XXL pro and it even looks pretty fast for its huge size. I think the bigger Veloce’s will be more on par with the GoFoil GL’s. Super fast and glidey, but a bit higher stall speed and requiring a modified turning/carving technique. Just my feeble guess. That being said I’m still anxious to try a Veloce XL for winging.

Again, the Gong Al masts ( a standard kite foil mast) are probably fine for the smaller Gong wing sizes. For my XL pro, I didn’t even realize just how wobbly the Gong masts were until I did the mod. HUGE difference, even at these low winging speeds. FWIW I completely overpaid a local Prototyping machine shop to do this in a day so I could be back on the water quickly. Most of the expense was just programming the new mast outline into the CNC computer. You have to adjust the new mast position slightly to avoid conflicting overlap with the existing M6 bolt tap locations in the fuselage. I had the machinist line up the forward Axis M8 bolt location to the existing forward M6 bolt tap in the fuselage. It moves the new mast about 1cm forward of the current mast location. No biggie, and it works great.

Now I'm thinking I should get the 100cm carbon mast from Gong....

I just don't get it why they won't do the 80 and 90cm versions. Those would be no brainers to sell! For winging and kiting, which are the most relevant atm.

I asked gong they had any plans to make something in the 80-90cm range. They replied as below. In their opinion of you are good enough to want a carbon mast, then you wouldn't want anything shorter than 100. Maybe if enough people ask them for alternatives then they might change their minds
Informations for the 70 PRO MAST ( surf version )

Height : 75cm
Length : 54,5cm

100 PRO MAST

Height : 105cm
Length : 54,5cm

This is a top of the range version of our mast that we reserve for experienced riders.
The vast majority of kite riders are turning to a 100 version to optimize its performance.
So we will not produce an 80/85 version.

Feel free to come back to me if you have more questions,

Best regards.

Thanks, I also asked awhile ago about it. I think a 85 or 90cm mast would make a lot of sense; especially when foiling in shore waves (close to the beach) you don't have much water depth and there I think these 100cm masts are overkill and harder to estimate the breach length or when the foil will hit the bottom of the sea. I currently have 93cm Moses mast and really like it, but not willing to go any longer.

I have the original Gong 712cm2 wing, never used.
It is very thin too, so kind of a Veloce small.
Maybe I should try it now when fast wings are hot again!

My wings will be a nice little quiver.

@AndersP or anyone owning a Gong Kite wing ,
Would you show here the airfoil section of this wing using a "garage" method :
Optional, protect the root chord of the wing along the fuselage with some cling film,
1 - get a piece of thin MDF or cheap brown cardboard at your favourite supermarket,
2- in the middle, cut the approximate shape of the airfoil 2-5mm bigger
3 - put the cardboard around the wing against the fuselage
4 - using clay, Paris plaster, putty, (bread dough ?) , fill the gap between the wing and the piece of cardboard, preferably on each side of the cardboard
5 - leave it set/cure
6 - remove gently
7 - take a photo and post the airfoil section here with chord length and max thickness (mm)
I would really be interested if you could do the same with your two other wings ( Surf pro M 1100 + Surf M (Lift)1500) to compare their physical characteristics. Thanks.
