Moses 425 stab - very good

Postby NYKiter » Thu May 07, 2020 9:45 pm

After flying the 483, 325, 330 and 450 I think Im settling in to the 425... its very good.

It has almost the same span as the 483 and pretty much the same chord.....but its half the thickness....combined with the slightly upwards tips it gives the 683 a solid shot of speed without the twitching of the 325 and 330 (which I find detestable) ....the AOA is completely flat...unlike the unwieldy 450..just my 2 cents here...

Going to try it with the Baltz 720 wing next....fingers crossed...

Does the 425 fit the 710 surf fuselage?
Meaning the same as 683S, 790 etc

I rode my 425 with 695 wing today for the first time (first time 695 with the woody board, first time 425 with 695 and with woody board, and well, first time 425 at all) on a board with fixed mast attachment holes. It worked really well, and while I would have needed to move the mast forward by couple of inches with 590/330 (and I couldn’t), with 695:425 it worked well

How neat is the fit?
I have been told it's not a nice fit like the 450 and 483?
However from the comments above not a performance issue??

Also is the difference in performance worth buying a 425?
I currently have the 483 stab.
If the 425 is more stable at speed that would be a plus.
Thanks.

Hey NYKiter, are you able to provide some more information or clarification regarding your comments on the 450?

I only have the 450, and my front wings are 683S and the 633.

I was thinking of getting the 483, mainly to try the original stab, but you're making me think I want the 425 now...!

I had the same fitment issue with the screws....just a little tight is all...just screwed it down...made things tighter actually.

Ive never found the 483 to be unstable at speed...just slow speed...this one just adds speed like the others without as much twitching in chop...I know some folks call this 'loose' and like it...but with our inland frontal garbage winds overhead this translates into nasty twitching below the water....

No experience with the 633 as its out of my quiver....

Thanks a99 - your post motivated me to try this :cool2:

As far as 450 - all of this started because I was looking to get rid of the high foot pressure of the 633/483, moved into the 683 and took care of that and wanted more speed. When I added the 450 it felt like the 633/483 all over again.....if I were you I would try the 483...its very very nice. Then try the 425 later if and when you want more speed....all this is subjective, Im just feeling comfortable with the 425, maybe heavier riders appreciate the 450 I dont know. I was actually thinking about sanding down the 483 to just make it thinner but didnt want to screw it up totally as its still a great stab (just chewed up to hell on the tips)

Its been frustrating buying all of these stabs but its given me something to look forward to during the COVI bullsh8t...
