Are all mast bases and boards compatible?

Hi all,

I am experienced in surfkite but have never tried foil. I am thinking in foiling as a long term project (sooner or later I will end up there, as years go by and my back suffers more...)

Budget restrictions, I am thinking in buying now a skim\foil board (RRD squid, good offer), that I can use now as a skim (which I enjoy), and later on I will buy a second hand foil.

RRD Squid has two channels where you screw the base plate of the mast.

Muy question is, the distance between the channels is a common standard same as the distance between the holes of the mast base plate ? Or every brand do its own?

In other words, will I need yo buy an RRD foil set or can I buy other foil brands?

Thanks in advance

Common standard is 90mm between centers of holes/tracks and 165mm distance between centers of holes lengthwise. 140mm lengthwise is common spacing for aluminum fuselages.

There have been crazies who delivered proprietary sizing but most mature manufacturers settled on 90x165mm mount standard.

I’d call the shop and ask them to confirm the size for both board and the foil when in doubt
