Efoil inventor

Postby longwhitecloud » Mon May 25, 2020 12:10 am

After inventing the efoil concept on kiteforum many years ago ( there are no earlier drawings of the idea in existence.)

I just got to try it. I got some serious black and blue patches on me because it is very heavy and starts to kind of roll around.. resonating until you are ejected onto the board or foil( very little give when you hit it!) but finally got the hang of controlling it.. 60km range! Carving around freaking people out.. like the earlier days when you showed up with a kite and people were like wtf is that!

It was once I worked out the remote control speed control was the key, not try to go as fast as possible hang 10ing as I went. Lol

I'm guessing you didn't actually let the moths out and open your wallet to buy one...? I hear they're thousands of dollars. Thousands!

Last I checked, talking about something on the internet doesn't make you the inventor.

haha yeah. On the one I used they had a setting that took some power out. Definitely sensitive on the remote. Damn what a felling tho.

True, talking about it may not, but even my very average artwork I published here does. All you have to do is be the first person with a concept drawing, that is why when it comes to patents they say " no prior artwork in existance" in order to be able to even lodge a claim to ownership of the idea. ( ownership= inventors) . Of course patent attorneys cost 2-300 $ an hour.. I enquired about it at the time, not a road I wanted to go down. Also patent attorneys will take you down a road of protecting every combination of possibility to protect your idea in multiple countries.. very very expensive.

They are a pretty complex piece of engineering so respect to those that developed the idea. They may claim they had the idea prior, but without proof, it means nothing in the world we live in.

I have tried to lodge a patent before( I made the first ever sidewalled kiteboard, using a snowboard press).

Someone could still come forward with prior artwork to mine, but it hasn't happened.

You don't have to regret anything.
You published your drawing late 2014. Published 2015/04, the Langelaan (Lift based) patent has a priority from 2013/10. It was granted despite the Evolo project prior art from 2008.
So not regret at all.

Thank you, I am going to look into that. Patents are by country so it is a complex affair.

The lift one was after my drawing, no sign of prior artwork to mine in patent I read.

The other one seemed to be designed for sitting down, but they seemed to mention standing up eventually.. need to look into this more.. it does look like a foilboard though.. even in 2009 but at the time it seems it was for sitting or kneeling.

Fascinating stuff. Of course patents are granted by country so I only read the US one.
