True, talking about it may not, but even my very average artwork I published here does. All you have to do is be the first person with a concept drawing, that is why when it comes to patents they say " no prior artwork in existance" in order to be able to even lodge a claim to ownership of the idea. ( ownership= inventors) . Of course patent attorneys cost 2-300 $ an hour.. I enquired about it at the time, not a road I wanted to go down. Also patent attorneys will take you down a road of protecting every combination of possibility to protect your idea in multiple countries.. very very expensive.
They are a pretty complex piece of engineering so respect to those that developed the idea. They may claim they had the idea prior, but without proof, it means nothing in the world we live in.
I have tried to lodge a patent before( I made the first ever sidewalled kiteboard, using a snowboard press).
Someone could still come forward with prior artwork to mine, but it hasn't happened.
