I have a spare 483 stab and would like to reduce its size.
Recently got a 420 and it's significantly better than 483
All advice appreciated as it seems 483 has some foam so does this limit what can be done?

Most 683 stabs have been re-shaped
the ones that have not yet been treated to a special tip re-profile, are called
brand new.

Thanks but I am referring to the 483 stabaliser not the front foil wing

Foil is talking about the 483, i think he just mistyped . You can usually shave about 2cm off the tips before reaching the core, however that is not guaranteed if there are any changes to the layup since the last time I cut a 483.

If you hit the foam core, it can't be that hard to seal it properly. Maybe a layer of glass.
If I were to shave down a stab, I would look to reduce overall surface area more than simply span. You can pretty easily eyeball how far in to the tips and TE you can go before its likely you hit any foam.
Best of luck.
