Gunards opinion on the 1000 “pretty much the same lowend as the 790” (for winging)
I am trying to understand what would be the best to kite with the peak4 8m (ideally 5m) when it can still fly but I cant get up on foil (with 633 and 483).
1000, 790 or other?
I have the 800 but it stalls at a higher speed than the 633 and that makes the 633 much easier (for me) to jibe in low winds. Maybe I just need more skill to take the 800 to a lower stall speed, but still it is more dificult.

Anyone used the Jimmy Stringfellow adapter for the 710 surf fuselage to fit the W1000 wing?

Just got back from my first Wing Session the the 1000. 5M Wasp, 82 Mast. WOW! Pretty much the same lowend of the 790, but a lot faster, and pumps more efficiently.

The setup feels super direct compared to the 790. It reacts instantly without any lag when you kick it. The upwind angle is insane compared to the other Front wings. And what is even more amazing is how easy it it to ride. I thought it would be a lot less stable, but it is like on rails when going straight, but if you want to turn or carve it reacts instantly. So much fun.

I can't wait for some proper windswell to downwind on this setup.

Surprising to see that the 1000 with only 1100 sq cm really works for wing foiling. I’m not a big fan of the 790 specifically because it gives up a lot of low end while at the same time not adding that much top end over the 1100. Granted it does turn/carve a lot harder than the 1100. I was hoping to see Moses come out with a high aspect foil in the 1600 sq cm range for wingfoiling and prone/SUP surf/downwind riding

Of course maybe my technique still sucks. For just riding and jibing it doesn’t matter much but for tacking and 360’s in wingfoiling it’s like I’m trying to have as much speed going in as I can, and as low a stall speed as possible when I exit to maximize the odds of finishing on the foil. The W1100 and my Gong XL pro have both done a good job of providing decent hi and low end. Just harder for me to tack and pull off 360’s on the 790. I’ve been tacking for awhile and just starting to make a few on-the-fly 360’s with a wing-a-ding
Hi Dave,

The 1000 or 790 are not meant to cover all Wingfoiling wingranges. These are wings to use in higher winds. However don't use surface area as a metric for comparing the foils, it tells you virtually nothing about the range of the foil. AR, Span, Profile and volume all play a larger part in stall speed compared to surface area on its own.

For me The 1000 und 790 are for windy wavy days. The 1100 is for those flat water trick days.

Sorry to ask this possibly again, are you using the W1000 on the 647 kite fuselage?
I know the 790 is for the surf 710 fuselage and its looking possible I can get locally a kite fuselage.
Thanks

I owned the 790 wing and the 633 at the same time, and can confirm the 790 gets you going much earlier on a kitefoil than the 633 and the low stall speed makes you laugh with disbelief,
however I sold mine as it simply became a pain to use, if the the wind increased it became one scary wing to use, spent one session just going upwind as turning off wind was just more scary than an angry wife, surprisingly it jumps well as I found out,
very rarely I wish I still owned it, and the experience of using one will amaze you,
it was a love /hate ownership problem

Thanks Foil, wasn’t it difficult to go downwind in high winds because you where overpowered in the kite? I don’t have much experience with small wings (just the 800 and 633), so I don’t understand how it would be easier to go downwind in high winds with a smaller hydrofoil. It seems to me that if the kite is high, it would feel safer to be able to go slow downwind with a bigger front wing?
Yet; yesterday I was able to kite with the 633 in the lowest wind speeds possible to me (with the 8m peak) and a thing to consider (for even lower winds) would be the ability to go upwind better. This makes me think that the 1000 might be better than the 790. (Even though it was clear that surface area is very beneficial to start at such a low winds). I also like your impressions about the 790 qualities.

The new Moses 1000 looks good.
Any details appreciated e.g. area, aspect ratio etc
I just posted over in wingsurfers

I've ridden 790 back to back with 679 and for kiting I don't see the point. It's surprisingly agile but its just so huge that its overkill IMO. It's designed to deal with much bigger boards and weight. It will get you up sooner but a very narrow band of usability under a regular kite board and kiting conditions. It might be ok with a tiny peak4 for just drifting and playing in the waves....but again, don't see the point.
