I have the Ozone harness and like it for Foiling and Wave surfing.

Jeff Howard also has a video converting a Mountain Climbing harness into a minimal Foil harness

Dakine vega is the best balance of strength and weight (for me). I like to boost biggish so I want some robustness....but when compared to most on the rack they are certainly less heft but I never feel unsafe.

I looked for Jeff Howard's link for the Mountain Climbing Harness conversion but now cannot find it,

He just took a mid-priced Climbing harness and added a Carabiner to the front.
He said in his video that it worked very well for Foiling.
I assume he took it down as his shop doesn't sell Mountain Climbing equipment

I remember it too. I think he mentions it in one of his KISS-bar-videos.

About the Ether harness: The size chart looks strange to me. According to it, I´d need an XL (while I use a size M from Rideengine).
Any experiences on the "real" sizing of the Ether harness?

Yep, get the XL. I tried the largest they make, didn’t like it. Buy from a shop that will accept returns.
