I have an old split surf that riccardo modded with foil mounts. The split is well made and my board works well as a surfboard (a bit big for a foilboard).
Down sides from many years ago: slow delivery, fragile skin. Current boards look like plain carbon so should not be especially fragile.

No discount on split models at the moment, but amazing that you can get a carbon pocket board for under EUR500!
