i wear a seat harness and hate the slider. you lose tension on lines as you turn with a slider. that delay in feedback was annoying to me, but i suppose most get used to it. anyway, i have no problem using seat harness and fixed hook while foiling, and it has no effect on gibes. but i never liked the Fusion, too large and cumbersome. I use a Dakine Vega.
I use dakine vega as well, Halo bar, not hook. Toyed with a slider and even bought one but for big boosting, that single line on the dynabar scares me....have not even tried it (maybe someone wants to buy?) I do not find the seat stops toe side cruising.

I've used the Dynabar for about 5 years now, with Dakine Fusion to begin with. Used it all the time, TT and surfboard, and now foil. I've gone back to a fixed hook for the TT because the rope seems to suck up a bit of energy. Can hardly ride toe side on the TT now :(

I started using a Mystic Star hybrid harness to foil with, and now I use a Renegade (with the Dynabar) because I just don't load up like I need to with a TT and seat harness.

Have had three ropes wear through -- but because they're spliced, they don't snap. I added a second line as a sliding safety leash, and to hook into in case the main line snapped ... but it never has.

I use the Dakine Option, which has a hook that travels along the rope. I really like it. You get the benefit of easy-on / easy-off that comes with a chicken loop and the freedom that comes with a slider. Unfortunately, Dakine stopped making it.

A good solution (for me at least) is to cut the hook and just replace by a flexible fixed point , made of a SS ring attached by a very short dynema rope like BRM system. You remove the leverage almost like a slider but you keep a precise control like a hook. And you gain power stroke (useful for short arms).
you wouldn't happen to have any pics would you?
I have this old one on stock. Just look at the central short rope with small SSring.

I have an well used Dakine seat harness with an old Dynabar (V7 I think) spreader bar. It has the smooth stainless bar, not the one with the centre notch, and the previous owner replaced the plastic wheel on the hook with a brass one. So basically very little friction and nothing wears out. I’ve been using it probably 4-5 years now for all types of kiting and it works well for my needs. Toeside, Gybes, it’s all fine.

I use the mystic stealth bar with surf rope, it's been great for foiling as the heavy padding and integrated bar (screwed to the pad, not floating) means there's no rotation of the bar into my ribs. I've been using it with a hardshell majestic x harness but may try it with the foil seat harness later.

and you found that better than what appears to be the sliding rings that you must have tried?

Overall yes :
Better on :
Accuracy during jibe
Extended power/ depower stroke

Another difference is that with a sliding rope, when riding toe side, the sliding induces a powering of the kite. While with this system, it will depower the kite a bit if you do not sheet-in more. There are pro (waves) and cons (powered freeride) on this feature depending on your ride style (more depower stroke with my fix point but more physical to keep same kite power as normal ride).
