Yea, but hook - have not any advantages - just hooking and unhooking possibility which is rarely used and voluntary disabled with donkey dick in 99% cases. Hook leverage is clearly problem couse it create rotational forces which you must overcome when riding toeside or doing any "boardriding" maneuvers. Many people are used to overcome this force and are able to add forces needed to overcome this to they riding. But this forces are dynamical and you always end with kite "speaking" to your riding - more or less. With waist harness this is little different as they can rotate and compensate for. Its most profound with seat harness.

I don't like when my waist harness slides, somewhat same mushy feel like a sliding spreader bar, instead of the precise control.

So it has to be tight so it can not slide.

But many do like the non fixed, so simply personal preferences.

update,,,, put on my dyna j bar onto my seat harness,,, put up a 12m instead of my 10,, and switched kites from the north rebel i was using to my old rally that i finally fixed,,,and it was night and day difference, i was doing "my strong side" heel to toe turns and then cruising out and then doing toe to heel turns back,,, kind of a figure big figure 8 basically,,,,,all on the foil,,,,was trying different speeds and exit angles.

the only thing is is that going toeside,, i tend to "yaw" back and forth as my legs get a little fatigued. and i feel like i am angled, body and board wise, into the wind,,, where as heelside, i feel like i can almost stand up straight.

plus, my rear foot,, the toes/ball portion,, seems to be doing most of the work

Yep. I remember the day I first got a Dynabar and went out on the surfboard and was like, this is too easy :D

Might need to adjust your stance ie. where your feet are on the board.

Seems people tend to dislike a fixed hook when riding toeside, but as someone who constantly switches, I find the fixed hook fine. I have tried a sliding attachment but it screwed up my tack timing so I changed back. I rarely ride toeside except when swell riding and then the kite is in front of you and the pull is fairly square to your hips and when getting back upwind it is always on heel side as toeside angles are crap.
What do racers use? Fixed or sliding.

Local racers all use fixed as far as I can tell, but I've never seen them ride toe side.

You might just be a weirdo :D

Weirdo, quite likely, but happy with that :thumb:
But maybe the disadvantages of a fixed hook on toeside turn into advantages heelside with the leverage of the hook providing additional pressure to drive the foil upwind.
I have noted that when heading upwind toeside, then switching to heelside my angle improves a lot.
I can see a slider would really help those who either can’t or aren’t strong riding heelside on both tacks.

I use the mystic stealth bar with surf rope, it's been great for foiling as the heavy padding and integrated bar (screwed to the pad, not floating) means there's no rotation of the bar into my ribs. I've been using it with a hardshell majestic x harness but may try it with the foil seat harness later.
Which seat harness will fit to the stealth bar?

*Maybe* I can point upwind as well on toe side, but I can't get the speed. But any toe side riding is a lot more comfortable with a SSB.

And working to get that good of an angle is uncomfortable  so for best speed and angle, I switch to heel side. For noodling, I take the comfort of SSB.
