Re: 633/91/483 whistling relief and new stab?

Postby Brizair10 » Sun Aug 30, 2020 5:26 pm

I recently tried 483, 330 and 325 stabs on my 633..
325 is my favourite stab, it takes a little to get used to but it is very lively and nice to carve.
Did not try the race stabs, 425 or 420...
Mast Position moves forward around 6 cm with the smaller stabs..... about the same as for 590.
So if anyone thinks about drilling new holes in his foilboard because he/ she just changed to 633 with S483 from a smaller frontwing-
Don´t do that, just keep your old small stabilizer.

My 633 setup whistles quite abit at times and would like to fix it. Ive read sanding down the trailing edge of the mast flat will help. Does anyone have some tips or trick to doing this?? I have some 1000grit wet sand paper at home and was going to use a chunk of 2x4 as a sanding block..

Id also like to make the 633 a little more lively with a smaller stab, read the 330 suits it better? Im just into strapless freeride.
Look closely at 633 trailing edge. If you see a little kicker on the upper surface - sand it down with 320-400 grit at 45 degrees angle, then round trailing edge just a touch with 400 grit - to not have a knife blade there.

As of smaller stabilizer the 425 would be amazing, If you can’t get a 425, try 421. 330 is pretty inferior to race stabilizers.

Expect to move mast forward with any of kite stabilizers or step further back.

its most likely not the mast. I've never heard of a Moses 633 whistling...
The trailing edge of wings is usually the source, but Moses wings are generally well finished on TE.
My 590 wing whistled out of the box, it turned out there were a few small pinholes in the clear coat. I had to paint and sand the wing.
Google around and you'll find some guidance, then do the stab first, then the front wing. Check the surfaces of the wings for pinholes or imperfections
Hi Tom, I wanted to ask you how you fixed the micro holes of the Moses wing.
I have a 683, which doesn't make any squeaky whistles or vibrations, but at the bottom of the front wing there are many micro holes in the matte finish layer.
I opacified the wing with sandpaper and water, and these micro holes were not there.
in all of my outings I clean everything with water and alcohol and lately I have noticed the appearance of all these micro holes, in addition to the loss of black color from the front of the front blade and from the tips of the same.

So I wouldn't square your TE's, I'd probably do what George is suggesting here. I would only do this if I could confirm an imperfection either visually or by touch, such an imperfection might cause a loud noise like you're experiencing.
damn!

another question.
in 633 and 683 do you sand the trailing edge from above or below?
and in the stabilizer 483?

I suggest you only sand trailing edge from one side and that would be top on the wing and bottom on the stab

I sprayed it with grey primer. Then i could see any microscopic pin holes, which i then dabbed some primer on. Let dry a few days, then wet sanded 400-800-1200

Suppose to sand the high pressure side, from my understanding. So the front wing sand the bottom and the rear wing sand the top...

Except I’ve seen the “bumper” defects only on upper side of the Kodes wings. Sand where the problem is
