Actually large Hoverglide stabilizer with 84cm wing is supposed to be mounted upside down (yet it could be flipped as well)
Some old foils like MHL Lift I had, did have stabilizer flying upwards which could be a weird experience but quite rideable at right mast position.

Much worse is to mistakenly use 5mm longer stabilizer screw for wing-fuselage attachment which would result in a gap between mast and a fuselage and then titanium bolts would snap sending bottom of the foil to the bottom of where you’re riding at. Two friends had that experience.

Get ready, in 2021 every brand will make kook-proof strut/fuselage connectors and announce proudly that this design revolution is *wait for it* ...a TOTAL GAME CHANGER!

Wow, looking forward, it will be epic, cant wait :naughty:

A gamechanger, just like the Cab Fireball and Best Hellfish

I dont know the specific foil, but was it to be understood as the front wing was mounted correctly, but the stab upside down because the fuselage was?

If so, it might give a very odd trim, and be nervous like if stabless (a rodeo horse maybe), but you should be able to ride upwind, standing a lot further rear than usually, especially if you ride strapless :naughty:

Very difficult to ride, but if one can manage, upwind will work even if stab is upside down.

You could go even higher upwind and in less wind, IF you can ride steady, as the stab lifts now.
But in reality this is not possible, so everything feels wrong, yes

If both wings upside down, it would not really work, no.

It is the slingshot. The design problem is that the attachment point actually connects fine both ways. The giveaway, once you know what to look for it, is the barrel bolt head doesn't seat perfectly trim when wrong, it sticks out 3mm from the fuselage. But short of that, it appears to be set up perfectly ... and even for an intermediate rider that knows what they are doing, it takes some web image searches to be 100% sure. Speaking from experience, on a boat, trying to figure how/why I forgot how to foil.  :thumb:

Cant find the video i was looking for. However here are two I found where there is an inverted fuselage shown.

Who knows maybe they're onto something...

@peter frank - A friend of ours who did this by mistake was riding quite comfortably but he had mounted the foil all the way forwards in its tracks to compensate. When he switched it and used it in its more standard configuration he said it was a much more stable forgiving ride.

+1

Mounted the slingshot Stab upside down at my 20th session. Couldn't believe I crashed all the times after 2 meters. Then I realised my mistake.

First time ever going out on my Slingshot gear I took the wrong bolts to connect the mast to the fuselage. I comfortably launched up and out of the water, all looked fine. Taxiing on the water at first like a boss and thought I just nudge my weight a bit and get a little lift - I've got this, I'm a king, nailing it on my first try, this is easy. Moving my weight nothing happens... strange... a bit more... still nothing... Looking down I realise only the mast remained. Lost in the deep sea. I'm an idiot.

it would appear that for the F-sup 48cm rear wing should be mounted on the lowerside of the fuselage but for all the kite foils the topside is standard.

Maybe not so idiotic afterall...
