Just got my 2.8. Ready for fall & winter storms. Drysuit, surf wing. 37 inch pocket board. 21m lines. It's mostly 3.7 & 4.8 m days.

I’m wondering about this too. I size down from 5m to 3.5m at 18kn. I can’t imagine riding a 5m in 30kn.

If we had those conditions where I live I’d be on a 2m or smaller if I could find one.
Same. I sat on the beach at Rufus (East Columbia River Gorge). My smallest kite was a 3.7 (now 2. 8m ) which was too big. Watched people having a blast on 2.2m kites.

Soon the question becomes when do you ride a TT or surfboard?

I don’t really feel the need for TT or waveboard anymore since I started foiling..
And yes I need more smaller kites.. Peak, Soul..

And the answer might be

Only when the water isn’t deep enough to hydrofoil

Haha...good point; it caused me to TT today instead of foil....water was too shallow! Still, I had fun jumping.

I always hydrofoil. If it’s too windy for my kites, I can wing foil. 4m wing is good to over 30 knots.

I’ll fly a 10m Soul in about 9-18 knots, an 8m Soul from about 17-22 knots. I have a 6m Soul, but once it’s up to 23 knots or so, I’ll switch to a 4m Wasp now. I also just got a 13m Sonic that I expect will take over from about 7-13 knots.

Foiling - Every chance I get.
Twintip - If conditions are perfect - butter flat and over 20 knots I can still be tempted. (But if there are waves nearby, the foil will trump this)

Do you hydrofoil all year around in all weathers or just through the summer months in lighter winds.
I foil in 8-14 knots, all year round. If it's more than that I'll ride my SB. I only foil with Peak 4's too, no more LEI foiling for me.
