Ketos needs plate adapter
You might find the one screw assembly of a KF box a luxury in a board

TomW, if you are thinking of the 558 and don't want to spend so much you could consider RL foils "shark" which I suspect is a close copy. I tried it (with an older fuse setup) and it is very stable and smooth. https://rlboards.com/product/foil-shark/

I ride strapless free ride but like to go fast with 15m race kite in lighter winds. I made my pocket board 110cm long to allow for wider stance, with room behind mast for back foot. I made it narrower at 35cm so less rail to catch on swell. It’s 25mm HD foam core instead of 20mm and full carbon, overbuilt for stiffness. Stiffness is of supreme importance when riding fast! A little extra rocker than production pocket boards really helps. 2.6kg.

Zeeko bullet foil with small 540cm2 wing for speed, bigger 710cm2 Carver for slower free ride. Can ride 25knots comfortably, afraid to push faster as riding fast downwind strapless feels like standing on a knife edge and my wind is gusty and water full of fish/debris

Sounds good. Im not totally off track.
I would prefer to stay with a plate set up.
Maybe the slingshot phantasm range will have something racy.
The Duotone daytona looked good too.
There's some ML BL3 used, but still in 2000€ range, not plate.

Tk. Wow. You got connections? That seems like overkill for me.
Ill be using my hyperlinks.....
No need for connections anymore to get a Mikes Lab! There are dozens of used Bullet 3's available right now on the kiteracing2hand facebook group. There was a used one listed yesterday for $2000 which looks very nice. You can even get a new one made from the new production facility in a short amount of time.

I've had several race foils before the ML B3. There's no comparison to the ML B3 as far as stiffness, control, and ease when going fast. Even used though, they are pricey.

You can go fast strapless, but seems sketchy to me. I've been riding race foils with 3 straps for 5 years and never had a problem ejecting from the straps. What would really scare me is going 30 knots, clipping the top of a wave or ventilating slightly, and having your front foot slide over the side of the board

Example going fast strapless:

Yea, ive seen all those ML 3 on sale. Is that because of the equipment qualifications and ml3 wont be eligible for racing?

I understand the scary part of strapless at 30 knots. But I've never used straps on surfboard or hydrofoil.

I'd like to get a foil with a plate. So I'm thinking of new slingshot phantom, which I could use with bigger wings too. The north Daytona or one of the moses racy foils.

Yeah, the BL3 is approved for another year but I think a lot of people are just migrating to their eventual gear which explains the ML's for sale. You can also get plate adapters that work well, so don't inherently limit yourself by foil model on that variable; for what it's worth I doubt the plate connections can be made as robust as tuttles, and I've seen way more pictures and stories of plates breaking than tuttles, but that's mostly racing.

To back up what Dave said, I rode his BL3 this week and his claims are all true. I came back in to the beach with a smile on my face like I haven't had the whole time I've been kiteboarding...they really are special, especially if you're into the speed thing.

I'm thinking of spicing up life by going fast and get a racy foil set up. Im having an age crisis
I'll never race, I don't enjoy competition. I don't want to boost and jump.
What do you think of strapless speed foiling? Can I use my pocket board? Should I build a racy board without straps ? ( I build a lot of boards).
Or are the straps adding something I'm missing?
I've hydrofoiled for 4 years strapless. Kiting 19 years.
Note: I'm an older bastard (60+) and don't wanna FU my knees or ankles.
If you get 671 wing for Moses kite fuselage it will work with most stabilizers, 420/425/421 would probably work the best.
I spiced up my riding with 637 wing and while it’s an “old” 2018 race wing it flies fast, is stable and has nice lowend too
Riding strapless on my 36” board just fine too

Have you tried the 718 wing? Moses has a kit for that. Otherwise I have to order ala carte.

I rode its twin - the 720 in surf fuselage with 450 and 325 stabilizers. I think it’s good, yet redundant wing. It’d be cool to get 718 in May 2019 when 720 was released.
I don’t think it’s a fast wing - the 720 wasn’t. Of course you can squeeze 30 MPH from it, just as from the 800 but true race wings fly so much faster.

I’d talk to your dealer and ask for what you want exactly. Most of them can put a custom set together for a price of a set
