How about folding prop? Does it make difference on battery time?
Haven't got one myself but I'm guessing:
Slightly poorer efficiency spinning due to thicker, less efficient hub profile to wrap around pivot points. Great pumping and surfing as it's only when it's not running that it would fold to reduce drag and equirement to match water speed with prop speed.

For people with no near surf or easily foilable waves, no point as you'll always be spinning it.
For waves I'd think it's essential !
And if you want to double up and take a hand wing as well, you'd want it to fold.

Disclaimer- Not sure how well the board responds to pumping but I have a feeling from Chinese stuff I've seen on the web that batterys are usually close to mast so pumping should be easy. For anyone wanting to practise pumping a foil, perfect! Power to speed, cut motor, pump till tired. Boost to speed, repeat. I can't see that being nearly so practical with a rigid prop.

Yeh Bob I'm sorry that you had that happen to you and your wife in 1998 with PowerSki. I have a couple losses that stung and I have learned from them. I'm in a quandary. I want an efoil but will not swing the 10K. But let's say a $5K becomes available (for example the SuperNova). It still would come from a foreign country (France) with no USA presence which means possibly no timely support. I would be a big fool if the foreign product goes down and couldn't get my 5K (still expensive) efoil going for a period of time. For example I have an American based Specialized Turbo Levo ebike. The motor failed in May and I could not ride my ebike again until late July. That's how long warranty process and bike shop repair process took and that's in America! Missed the sweetheart of summer with my expensive ebike.

So if that happened to my efoil (on a worse scale, let's say a repair took all summer, or worse couldn't get a repair at all) I would have wished I would have gotten a Lift product. Even if it was twice as much. The price of quick service on a proven product with dealers helping you to get up and going is worth extra money for sure. But $5k extra? SO all this will pan out in the Spring. By that point if Marc can get some efoils out there and get a track record he will have a good shot. HIs Supernova is just really cool with the poly carbonate see through panels so you can see water passing beneath you. Certainly not the "reason" to get it. What matters is that it rides great and you have customer support. I too wondered about FlyShoes waterstart and figured the only way to do it would be off a dock. The concept of riding in circles to get up is absolutely hilarious!

Hey Mark.....I'm still intrigued on how to start on the flyshoes model after a person falls. I think the only way is in a circular pattern. Or, bury the board and foil under you and slowly rise to the water level. Then you need even deeper waters and places like OBX would be off limits except in much deeper water. Very intriguing for sure. Is their pricing actually around $5k?

I 100% get the $10K and $12K number being high, but it took me 3 years to wait for the price to come down but it didn't until now with this deal.

Fluidity......one of the things that will be come clear with any efoil is the battery and board and foils weight don't help with pumping. It's a little different animal.

Lift is coming in around 60lbs and some with the aluminum masts etc, are coming in around 70 to 77 lbs.

If you are expecting it to pump like a small 3' foil board with carbon foil, it won't. Can you pump it?
Yes, but it just won't be as reactive.

Some of the newer High Aspect wings Lift is adding to the mix though will help with both efficiency and pumping a little.

Hope this helps.....Bob

One last thing....the folding prop does help add to get more out of each battery's session.

"How about folding prop? Does it make difference on battery time?"

Yes, big time! However, you can also increase your ride time by removing the prop guard.

Correct. Taking off the prop guard also increases efficiency, but increases risk.

Recommended for those who are more proficient and don't fall much.

Folding prop also increase efficiency. Same as above. Do so at your own risk.

Here you go.

More info about the folding prop and how to install.

I have not yet used it due to working mostly with new students and riders, but it does increase battery time.

If I had a dedicated board just for me, I'd have one.

Hope this helps.....Bob

A week apart I did two efoil demo days. First day 5’ Lift with folding prop and 170 HA wing. A week later 5’ Lift with regular 170 and regular prop. Side by side with 6’4” Takuma 1900.
Takuma was extremely easy to get on going and ride. Lift took a bit more practice and effort. I’m falling in love with those things

The Waydoo seemed very impressive, its assembly and interconnecting parts is at pinnacle of simplicity. Looks like it will drag price down a lot for the whole efoil market. I hope to demo it soon.

Grigorib, do you think ultimately you would go with a 5' model or something large like the 6'4? I wrestle with this question. I demo'd the 5' and yes it was tricky to get up and going on but once I did I could see the potential for future carving and fun. Less of an "explorer" model but more exciting. BUT for the sake of letting friends and family try it I'm sure the bigger the better. This goes back to getting two. But simply not going to happen in the near term. One is on tap for me for next season. Just not sure of brand yet. Interestingly the Lift Rep that showed me the 5' model also owns the 5'6" model. He said he really likes the putting the larger 200 foil of the 5'6" on the 5' Sport model.

I and a friend have pulled a trigger on 5’ with 250 HA wing and folding prop. It’s an awesome thing and compared to 6’2” buddy owns it’s a trickier setup to learn on. About 2 hours range at that setup, but still getting used to it. Even change from 170 surf wing and regular prop to 250 HA and folding prop became a learning experience.

Larger board is nice for friends and family but also on 5’ they’d learn, maybe after extra session or two. I wouldn’t want to have a “seaside resort rental windsurf” level setup just because it’s easy to learn on.

But having two makes great sense. Something easy riding plus a 4’4” 250 HA for self to rock on.
